Yes, BUT...

From the strib:
Chanting, dancing and carrying signs saying "Whatever happened to the American dream?" and "Immigrant rights are human rights," hundreds of people marched in support of immigration rights Sunday afternoon in south Minneapolis.

The march, mainly along E. Lake Street, was sponsored by a coalition of more than 40 groups, including faith communities and labor and immigrant organizations. While numerous ethnic groups and homelands were represented, many speeches and signs were in Spanish.

The immigration issue has been heated in Minnesota over the last several months. Gov. Tim Pawlenty said he wants a state investigative team to look at illegal immigration and urged tougher laws relating to fake IDs. More recently he announced he wants to extend a hand to legal immigrants and help them succeed.

Suspiciously missing from that story is the word, illegal.

LEGAL Immigrant? No problem. Come on in! Knock yourself out! Achieve the American dream! It's still here!

Come here illegally? Don't have enough respect for our country to respect our laws? Then prepared to get deported. Pure and simple.
You gave up your right to enjoy the benefits of citizenship when you crossed that border illegally.
