Coming to a cable channel near you...

Raven reports that "Muslim TV" will soon be on the air...Says Raven:
GREAT. What next? Muslim advertisements? Muslim Music TV?
They will use this medium to spread their hatred and lies. The lies will incite American Muslims to HATE even more. So I predict.
I hope this venture bottoms out because we don’t need anymore Muslim indoctrination.
Well, having hacked into the MTV (err..that's Muslim TV) website, I have been able to gain a list of their proposed lineup:

1. "This ol’ IED"
2. "Bombing for Allah!"
3. The weekly outdoor sporting show, "Kill the Joooooooooos!"
4. A story based on Osama's childhood, called, "Leave it to Muhammed.."
5.A game show, modeled on Groucho Marx’s “You bet your life,” called “You beat your wife!”
6. "The Arab Street (walker)" (on the Arab Playboy channel–featuring many shots of women’s ankles)
7. "Friday Night Beheadings!" (Spinoff of that crazy reality show for Infidels, “Don’t lose your head!”)
8. And the weekly news magazine offering, in cooperation with NBC, called “Meet the Jihadists”
9."Allah knows best” and that crazy new sports special...
10. “Bowling for Burkkas!”
11. Their new drama series, "Bush is the Devil!"
12. And finally, their not-to-be-missed educational program, "DNC Talking Points Weekly"

On Righting a Wrong...

A travesty against human rights is underway that shouldn't happen in the United States.

Not against insurgents at Abu Ghraib. Not against terrorists at Gitmo. No, there are serious deprivation of human rights going on with our own citizens. Not ordinary citizens, mind you--these are citizens who have volunteered to go into harms' way at their country's call for service to defend our freedoms.

As you may have heard (not so much through the MSM, but certainly in the blogosphere and shows like Michael Savage and Hannity), there is a travesty of justice going on with 8 soldiers who were alleged to have murdered an Iraqi man. Michelle Malkin reports:
7 Marines and Navy corpsman being held in shackles with no charges against them as higher-ups investigate an alleged murder of an Iraqi man earlier this spring in Hamandiya. Excerpt:

Did you know there are seven young Marines and a Navy corpsman sitting in a military brig right now in leg and wrist shackles -- despite the fact that they've not been charged with any crime?

The men are in solitary confinement, locked in 8'x8' cells at San Diego's Camp Pendleton, as investigators probe an April 26 incident involving the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Marine Division. They are behind bars 23 hours a day; family members can only see them through inch-thick Plexiglas. Military blabbermouths have told the press that the service members are suspected of kidnapping and shooting a man in the Iraqi town of Hamdaniya. The Iraqi man's family reportedly came forward seeking payment for his death as media hysteria set in over the separate alleged atrocity in Haditha.

These men -- our men -- may be innocent. They may be guilty. Charges may or may not be filed this week. But this much is certain: The media leaks and the Murtha-fication of the case are already taking a heavy toll on the troops and their families
And Toni at the Bear Creek Ledger recently adds:

Each time I read something more on how the Camp Pendleton 8 have been treated in the hands of NCIS and the Marine Corps I become more baffled. I don’t understand how the chain of command sees their actions and conduct here as a good thing for the Corps. This is one of the worst PR Campaigns anyone could conjure.

The defense has proof the NCIS uses a rubber hose (on prominent display) as a psychological intimidation tactic. What is wrong with these people? These are OUR troops here, not terrorists.

Then there’s the Marine Corps itself. First they go after Ilario Pantano based on a liars testimony, then it’s Haditha charges against Marines (thanks John Murtha for condemning them before being charged) and finally we have the Pendleton 8. All are a disgrace and black mark against the Marine Corps and NCIS.

From Mr. Jodka who’s son JJ is being held;
As to the allegation of coerced statements, Pfc. Jodka’s father, John Jr., described to me the psychological torture he believes his 20-year-old son has endured:

“Immediately after my son was removed from the war zone, literally moments after his rifle was removed from his hands, he was placed in a room for 7 to 7.5 hours ? no food, no water, no sleep ? and he was told that he was a murderer. They hammered away at him to give statements of what it was they wanted to hear.”

While Rick Amato at Townhall relates:
They've been shackled in chains and held in solitary confinement, their defense attorneys have been denied access to key evidence of the case and now their right to request a waiver of a pre-trial hearing — known as an article 32 — has also been denied. Such has been the treatment of the men known as the Pendleton 8 in their quest to receive a fair, impartial hearing with a true presumption of innocence.

The Pendleton 8 are seven Marines and a naval corpsman being held in a brig at Camp Pendleton while waiting trial on charges of kidnapping and murder. On April 26, they were on an ambush mission in Hamdania, Iraq, designed to snare known local insurgents. The men are charged with allegedly taking an Iraqi villager, 52-year-old Hashim Ibrahim Awad, from his home, kidnapping him, placing him in a hole, shooting him repeatedly and staging the scene to make it appear he was an insurgent planting a bomb. The defendants deny the charges and claim they followed the rules of engagement. The federal government thus far has denied their defense attorneys access to evidence of the crime scene. Allegations are based upon witness accounts of Mr. Awad's neighbors. This case is separate from Haditha, Iraq, case.

"The Article 32 hearing is a sham," said defense attorney Jane Siegal, who represents PFC. John Jodka III. "Because the government has denied our opportunity to waive the 32, it is costing the Jodka family tens of thousands of additional dollars in legal fees. All this so the government can parade its coerced statements in front of the media. Coerced statements paraded in front of the media which will potentially pollute the jury pool."
The charges, at best, appear to be trumped. Kit Jarrell notes:

Last night on the radio I was discussing this article by Chris Roach on the Innocent 8. Roach’s belief that the seven Marines and Navy Corpsman charged in the Hamdaniya case are guilty is based on “statistical probability” and his assertion that “there are likely very few false confessions in the American judicial system.”

There are quite a few problems with Roach’s research, however, and the conclusions that he makes are, by nature, also erroneous. The problem is that those who read Roach’s intellectual-sounding ramblings could very easily be swayed into believing that the Innocent Pendleton 8 are guilty, and nothing could be further from the truth. Let’s take care of this “confession” argument once and for all.

Errors + Errors = Wrong Conclusions

Before we get started, let’s take a look at something that should tell you right away about how much Roach knows concerning the case.

“…the foundation of [the Pendleton 8’s] defense are the alleged conditions of their clients’ confessions.” - 9/13/06

This shows a misunderstanding of the basic facts of the case, and especially the defense. The “foundation of the defense” is that the men did not commit the acts they are charged with. It’s not a complicated thing here. They’re not saying “We’re hoping to get off on a technicality.” They’re saying, “We did not kidnap, tie up, steal from, or murder this man.”

Now that you’ve seen the above statement from Roach, you can better understand my point. If you don’t even understand the facts, everything after that will be a faulty conclusion.

Roach goes on in the same article to talk about the “confessions” that the men supposedly made.

These incriminating statements are the key to the case.

Not so, says Donald G. Rehkopf Jr., who is a former Air Force prosecutor and defense attorney with a robust 30 years of experience trying cases.

“Confessions should be the icing on the cake,” he said. “If all the prosecution has are incriminating statements, then their case is weak.”

Weak? You mean confessions aren’t the “queen of proofs,” as Roach claims? If confessions are the icing, then where's the cake in this case? (WORTH THE ENTIRE READ)
The liberals have wailed and gnashed their teeth over some fraternity-like hijinx with some insurgents in Abu Ghraib, and over a bunch of non-issues at Club Gitmo--but where are the NYU fifth column lawyers from the ACLU to defend the civil rights of American citizens, held in shackles in 8x8 cells? Where are the ACLU pot heads who continually scream that the terrorists are being held without a trial at Club Gitmo?

Sorry for the long-windedness of this post, but this makes my blood boil to no end.

But, you CAN help the Pendleton 8. Write to your congressman and senators. Don't stop bugging them until action is taken.

And you can also help with their families--families with children with no father to support them.

Kit Jarrell at Euphoric Reality has taken up this most worthy cause.

Click here to donate to the families of the Pendleton 8. This money will go toward meeting their daily necessities, like food and housing:

That’s where we come in.

The Innocent Pendleton 8 Family Fund is not for legal fees. It is not for defense experts or trial costs. It is for phone bills so their sons can call home from the brig. It is for diapers for their babies, groceries for their cupboards, gas for their cars so they can get to work. It is to help them survive financially while these horrifying circumstances are going on.

A total accounting for all monies will be made public to all who ask, and the money will go directly from me personally to the families, in order of immediate need.

In front of Camp Pendleton, where these 8 men have been held in special confinement for over 130 days, there are rallies and media and national TV coverage. But back in little towns in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Washington State, and other locations, their parents and wives don’t have enough money to feed their children. This story breaks my heart, and I hope that you can find it in yours to give even a few dollars to help these families.

I will continue to maintain a link on the sidebar.

This unjustice against fellow Americans cannot go on. Not in MY country.

Technorati: Pendleton 8

No excuses...

Here's another instance of a slimeball who used the excuse that he "was teased" when he shot and killed his high school principal:

CAZENOVIA, Wis. — A teenager who decided to confront teachers and the principal after complaining that other students teased him brought two guns to school and shot the principal to death, authorities said.

The shooting Friday also came a day after the principal gave 15-year-old Eric Hainstock a disciplinary warning for having tobacco, according to a criminal complaint.

Hainstock was taken into custody and charged as an adult with murder, the district attorney said. He could get life in prison if convicted.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Hainstock's house late Friday, the sheriff said. The teen was scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.

On Friday morning, Hainstock pried open his family's gun cabinet, took out a shotgun, retrieved the key to his parents' locked bedroom and took a .22-caliber revolver, according to a criminal complaint.

There is absolutely no excuse for this kid's behavior, much the same that there was no excuse for this scumbucket's behavior.

Even if he was teased at school, kids have been teased at school since time immemoriam, guns have been abundant, but no kid ever thought of bringing a gun to school to murder others.

Murtha: Should ABSCAM mean "Amscray"

From the American Spectator:
Who Did Murtha Call?

After the sheiks' representatives offered Murtha the bribe and investments in his district on January 7, who did Murtha call? Not the FBI. In fact, when the FBI talked with him on February 2, he was not truthful about his contacts about the investments with Congressman Thompson or his January 7 meeting, Thompson's attorney revealed in cross-examination with Murtha. Murtha did not report to the agents that he was offered money, or that Thompson discussed splitting money with him. He told the agents that he never had any indication of money having been paid to Thompson. He also told the FBI that Criden first called him to arrange the meeting, though he later testified it was Thompson who first called.

Did he call the Ethics Committee, of which he was a member, or Tip O'Neill, the speaker of the House, to report the bribe offer? Murtha testified that he did not report any of Congressman Thompson's statements or anything else to the Ethics Committee or to anyone else in Congress.

But Murtha did call his guy in immigration. He testified that within one week of the townhouse meeting he spoke to an immigration official about getting the sheiks into the country. Sometime after that call and after January 21, Murtha ran into Thompson at the voting slot on the House floor. There, he told Thompson that he had "talked to Immigration and [Murtha] thought something could be done." Whatever Murtha expected in return, be it friendship, or investments in his district, or "walking around money," he was doing what he told the sheiks' representatives he could do.

Some may say that it was a long time ago--that Murtha is now pure as the wind-driven snow. But something tells me that this leopard with "the big fat backside" hasn't changed his spots.

Far from it.

Throwing my hat in the ring...

As a self-nominated candidate, I threw my hat in the ring for the high office of MOB mayor. For some reason (even though I have the coolest handle in the MOB) Foot doesn't like my chances:
Leo "Psycmeister" Pusateri. Self-nominated, Leo doesn't really stand a chance in hell of winning this thing. However, if Tucci and Aplikowski split the Residyool Froces vote, Bobo and Swiftee split the People Who Like Swear Words vote, and Bobo, Tucci and Swiftee split the Guys with Hairy Backs vote, Pusatelli has an outside chance, provided he doesn't split the votes of this state's 4 Italian-Americans with Tucci.

UPSIDE: As a shrink and school counselor, Pusatelli has a lock on the Sensitive New Age Guys and Soccer Moms bloc.

DOWNSIDE: None of those people read KAR.

ODDS: 65,591 to 1.
In his assessment, "The Foot" fails to take into account two key issues with regard to my campaign:

  1. I'm Sicilian-Italian
  2. I'm from Chicago
I'll have the cemetery vote all wrapped up.

And when I'm Mayor, people will know why they call it "The MOB".

After all--why do you think the current mayor is "swimming with the fishies" in a concrete overcoat?

Now kiss my ring, dammit!

An incompetent truth...

What's Algore's latest rant about? That cigarette smoke causes global warming!!!

From Drudge:

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore warned hundreds of U.N. diplomats and staff on Thursday evening about the perils of climate change, claiming: Cigarette smoking is a "significant contributor to global warming!"
Gore, who was introduced by Secretary-General Kofi Annan, said the world faces a "full-scale climate emergency that threatens the future of civilization on earth."

I wonder if Al Gore knew this when...

In 1988, while running for president, he defended tobacco farmers while
campaigning in Southern tobacco states (and made the quote up above: 'I've
raised tobacco ... I've shredded it, spiked it,... and sold it.') He accepted
contributions from tobacco companies as late as 1990.

Sorry Al, if there's anything human-made that's causing global warming, it's your brain overheating from all the hot air that emanates from your mouth everytime you speak!
Get a straitjacket on the guy already!

Mark Foley and his cover...

Congressman Mark Foley, a Florida Republican, tendered his resignation today, after allegedly sending sexually exlplicit messages to minors.
Saying he was "deeply sorry," Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned from Congress today, hours after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit internet messages with current and former congressional pages under the age of 18.
Ironically, Mr. Foley was the co-chairman and founder of the Senate Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. Foley, considered a shoo-in for re-election for his seat, ironically helped to author overhaul legislation for sex offenders, as well as legislation that would make it illegal for credit card companies to authorize payments to sites that feature child pornography. Nice cover, I guess, if you're involved in such pursuits.

If what is alleged is true (and Congressman Foley's abrupt resignation in this matter leaves one with little doubt), then Mr. Foley certainly deserves to render full payment to society for his criminal behavior. While I am sorry to lose a Republican seat in the House, I am not sorry to see Congressman Foley out the door.

If what is alleged is true, then good riddance.

Of Terrorists and Squirrels... lessons to be learned

The moonbat mentality of how to deal with evil, when applied in any situation, yields predictable results. Take this story, for instance, about squirrels that have been terrorizing park patrons in Mountain View, California...
Mountain View Community Services Director David Muela said that as many as six people have been bitten or scratched by squirrels since May, and that the attacks have become more ferocious in the last month. In response to attacks, the city of Mountain View has announced it plans to start trapping and killing the aggressive tree squirrels. Over the next three weeks, park workers will set tube-like traps in the trees of Cuesta Park and euthanize captured squirrels "in a humane way," said David Muela, Mountain View's community services director.
Of course, initial efforts to curb these squirrels' terrorist activities served to rile up these nasty buggers:
Ironically, efforts to curb the behavior may have exacerbated the squirrels' aggressive tendencies, Muela said. This summer, the city installed new trash receptacles featuring metal tops with a latch that makes it nearly impossible for an animal to rummage through the can in search of food. Increased park ranger patrols and flier distributions cautioning against feeding the animals might have further cut the squirrels' food supply, prompting them to act more assertively in their quest for food.
Hmmm... not giving the little terrorists what they wanted...so naturally they act out. But of course, to exacerbate the public menace posed by the rodent terrorist, here come the terrorist sympathizers--ready and willing to obstruct efforts to make the park safe...
Many have e-mailed, saying that euthanizing the squirrels is the wrong response. One viewer wrote, "I come to the parks to watch the wild animals, not the humans. I will no longer visit your parks knowing that any of them have become a killing ground for natural wildlife."
And yet more naysayers join in the fray...
Wildlife advocates also oppose the unusual measure of killing the animals and said it won't solve the problem. "The squirrels will be back," South Bay wildlife rehabilitator Norma Campbell said. "For every one you take out, two more will come in. It could be a never-ending project that isn't going to accomplish anything."
Ahh... the old "multiplying terrorist factor"...

However, the naysayers failed to see that years of appeasement only emboldened the squirrels..
Officials said the increasingly brazen behavior stems from years of being fed by park visitors.
Of course, in such a case of brazen, emboldened attacks, common sense for the common good needs to rule the day...
The state Department of Fish and Game recommends against relocating habituated squirrels, he said, because their fear of humans has diminished and the problem is likely to remain. Instead, the department recommends the animals be put to sleep, Muela said.
Finally, an appeal to stop appeasing the terrorists squirrels...
Emphasizing his concern for the welfare of park visitors, Muela said, "We will need the public's cooperation on this, because as long as they continue to feed the squirrels it will exacerbate the problem."
Not ones to pander from the cut and run crowd, these public officials know what's at stake:
Muela said the city couldn't afford to wait and see if the squirrels' aggressive behavior goes away eventually, because of the threat posed to public health and safety.
Finally, a plea for public support:
Emphasizing his concern for the welfare of park visitors, Muela said, "We will need the public's cooperation on this, because as long as they continue to feed the squirrels it will exacerbate the problem."
Unfortunately, as in our global war on terror, I am afraid that admonishment will continue to fall on deaf ears.

TWINS WIN!!!

2-1 in extra innings against K.C. Royals!

Now tied with the Tigers for first place in the AL Central--

Still, the Twins need to get ahead of Detroit by at least a game to win the AL Central Championship.

This is the Twins' year to go to the big dance!!!

Good going, Twinkies!!!

Agenda? We don't need no stinkin' agenda!

And nothing illustrates this better than the democrat agenda for 2006--or should I say, lack of it (emphases mine--subscription required)
Democrats Decide They Don’t Need ‘Contract’ to Win
ROLL CALL
By Morton M. Kondracke September 28, 2006

The 12th anniversary of the Republicans’ 1994 “Contract with America” came and went on Wednesday without a 2006 Democratic counterpart. And there won’t be one.

Instead, Democratic House and Senate leaders held yet another press conference to denounce the Republican Congress’ “rubberstamping the Bush administration’s misguided agenda.” Despite repeated urging from various quarters, including from former President Bill Clinton, that the party needs to make clear what it stands for and not just against, Democrats contend that off-year elections are referenda on the party in power and that a Democratic alternative agenda would only provide targets for the GOP to attack.

Just to underscore the point, the Senate Democratic leadership’s “war room” sent out an e-mail Monday declaring that “much hype surrounds the 1994 Contract with America. The Contract is often incorrectly credited with playing a large role in the Republican victory in the mid-term elections. Evidence shows that this was not, in fact, the case: Candidates did not campaign on the Contract with America, and most Americans were unfamiliar with the document’s existence.” Still, it’s a fact that then-House Minority Leader Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) gathered 337 GOP Members and candidates on the West Front of the Capitol on Sept. 27, 1994, and issued a 10-plank platform that included welfare reform, a balanced-budget constitutional amendment, tort reform, Defense budget increases, middle-class tax cuts and term limits for Members of Congress.

It’s undoubtedly true that the GOP won the election largely because of disgust with Democratic management — the failure of Clinton’s health care reform plan and Congressional scandals — but the contract did provide a legislative roadmap for the GOP once it won a 52-seat victory and had to help govern the country. This year, Democrats have issued a two-page positive agenda, “New Direction for America,” but there’s been no Capitol steps rally, and the document has all the earmarks of being just a handout designed to be an answer to the question, “But what do Democrats stand for?”
Interesting question.

Perhaps Groucho Marx said it best:
I don't know what they have to say, It makes no difference anyway--
Whatever it is, I'm against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it, I'm against it.
Your proposition may be good- But let's have one thing understood
Whatever it is, I'm against it! And even when you've changed it or condensed it, I'm against it.
I'm opposed to it On general principles I'm opposed to it!
(Chorus: He's opposed to it! In fact, in word, in deed, He's opposed to it!)
For months before my son was born, I used to yell from night till morn,
Whatever it is, I'm against it!
And I've kept yelling since I commenced it, I'm against it!
Thus, my friends, is the democrat agenda. "If Bush and the Republicans are for it, we're against it."

Have fun crashing and burning this November, dems....

From what I hear the fall doesn't hurt. That is, until you hit the bottom.

The Democrats' death wish?

As the Detainee Bill works its way through the House and Senate, the democrats (and some RINOs) continue to be stuck on stupid, with regard to what they think is the intent and the spirit of the Geneva Convention when applied to un-uniformed, illegal enemy combatants. According to Article 4 of the Geneva Convention, the following is the definition of a "legal combatant."
Article 4
Prisoners of war, in the sense of the present Convention, are persons belonging to one of the following categories, who have fallen into the power of the enemy:
  1. Members of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict, as well as members of militias or volunteer corps forming part of such armed forces.
  2. Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfil the following conditions:[
    • that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;
    • that of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance;
    • that of carrying arms openly;
    • that of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.
Now consider the terrorist scum who are currently being held in Gitmo and elsewhere.
  1. They wear no recognizable uniform or insignia.
  2. They hide among the civilian population, and hide their armaments.
  3. Their operations are not conducted in accordance with the laws and customs of war (Unless, of course, your laws and customs include targeting civilians and beheading infidels).
Remember, Article 3 and 4 of the Geneva Convention was not set up primarily as a bill of rights for prisoners, as much as it was an incentive for hostile forces to abide by the laws and customs of war. The purposes of these articles of the Convention were twofold. First, as is evident on face value, these articles of the Convention were set up to provide humane treatment to detained lawful combatants of hostile forces. The second, and over-riding function of the Convention was to protect the civilian population, by giving combatants the incentives to abide by the laws and customs of war. These guidelines were not set up so much to protect soldiers as they were to protect the civilian population against accidental targeting by military forces. By following the rules and customs of warfare, collateral damage and civilian deaths are necessarily kept to a minimum.

It is when a hostile force refuses to follows the rules and customs of warfare that the innocent civilian population is held at undue risk. Therefore, applying the protections afforded by the Geneva Convention to unlawful enemy combatants has the net effect removing the incentive for hostile forces to abide by the laws and customs of war. This strips the Geneva Convention of its most important function--the protection of the civilian population.

Of course, this is lost on the likes of Pelosi and even Carl Levin, who proclaims:
Sen. Carl Levin, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, objected, saying that the measure would be "used by our terrorist enemies as evidence of U.S. hypocrisy when it comes to proclamations of human rights."
First of all, being lectured to by Al Qaeda with regard to human rights is nothing less than laughable. Second, giving Al Qaeda and other terrorist detainees rights under the Geneva Convention and/or the U.S. Constitution gives the terrorists absolutely no incentive to cease their practices of targeting civilians and perpetrating outright atrocities unseen since the Stalinist purges.

By insisting that we give terrorists due process under the Geneva Convention, the democrats and RINOs are not protecting our citizens or soldiers--they are putting them in further danger.

But then again, what else is new?

The Twin Cities gets the nod...

Regarding character judgment...

Ellison is running, and Muslims are taking notice:

Muslims supporting congressional hopeful

WASHINGTON (AP) -- When Mohamed Ghabour heard that a Muslim candidate, Keith Ellison, was running for Congress in Minneapolis, Ghabour turned to a sister-in-law who lives in Minnesota for a scouting report. "She said he's a good man," recalled Ghabour, a Muslim pediatrician from the Tampa, Fla., area. "That's all I needed to hear."

According to the story, Ghabour donated $999 to Ellison's campaign. But perhaps Ghabour may want to get some more reliable sources before he writes out another check. After all, Ghabour and his wife contributed a total of $1500 to the Cynthia McKinney campaign.

Perhaps Mr. Ghabour would do well to bone up on candidates he would choose to support.

Or, then again, perhaps Mr. Ghabour simply has a different idea on what constitutes a "good man."

Bacardi Denies Its 151 Rum Caused Bar Burn Injuries

Monday, September 25, 2006

MIAMI — Bacardi says its 151-proof rum was not the cause of burns suffered by three women who sued the spirits company and alleged that their injuries were caused when a bottle used to pour shots turned into a "flame thrower."

Bacardi, in a motion to dismiss the lawsuits, said their injuries sustained by the women were caused after a bartender poured rubbing alcohol on the bar of the "Secrets" adult club and ignited it as part of a promotion for flaming drinks in 2002.

Quoting from Miami-Dade County police and fire reports, the company said another drunken patron placed a paper menu in the fire and then "pulled it up in the air," causing the fire to spread and injure the women.

"Indeed, rubbing alcohol is the sole named source of the fire," Miami-based Bacardi USA Inc. said in the motion filed last week in federal court. "Bacardi had nothing to do with this misfortune."

Danielle Alleyne, Antonette Hernandez and Agata Macierzynska claimed in their lawsuits that Bacardi's 151-proof rum is inherently dangerous and defective because of vapors that are prone to ignite in a "flame thrower effect" and that a bottle cap used to guard against that possibility was too easy to remove.

Looks like Darwin almost caught up with these characters... maybe next time.

Hooked on illegals?

That's the conclusion that one would have to come to when it comes to the "border fence" security measure. Don't get me wrong--I'm all for making the flight of illegals to the U.S. all the more harder.

Too bad those in Congress and the Senate don't. If you think that those in our legislative branch have finally gotten religion with regard to getting serious about illegal immigration, think again:

Analysis: Congress wobbles on border fence

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The new border security bill hammered out by the U.S. Congress last week was about politics far more than security.

Writing for CNN, columnist Ruben Navarette called it "immigration reform for Dummies."

The new bill makes much of building 700 miles more of security fences along the border. But it nowhere suggests imposing sanctions on U.S. employers who hire illegal aliens. That would be the surest way of shutting down the economic magnet that lures hundreds of thousands north from Mexico every year.

Kinda like replacing tires on a car to fix a transmission problem.

Given the unequivocal message that has been sent by voters to legislators, one can only shake one's head in wonderment as to their half-hearted attempts to solve the problem. When it comes to solving illegal immigration, only one thing is clear. They don't want to (emphases mine):
The fact that both houses of Congress have been working so feverishly to craft an acceptable border security bill before the midterm congressional elections in November therefore speaks volumes about the rapidly growing importance that illegal immigration and border security are taking on the U.S. political stage. But in contrast to the blizzard of legislation that swept through Congress to beef up homeland security, reorganize the federal government, and to fund the wars on terror and in Iraq and Afghanistan in the years after Sept. 11, 2001, the versions of the border security bill that have emerged in Congress are striking for how anemic they are.

That is because while al-Qaida and other extreme Islamist groups had no voting constituencies in the United States worth courting, illegal immigrants do.

For there are an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States, the overwhelming majority of them Hispanic, and the largest single group within those Hispanic speakers are from Mexico. But there are already around 39 million citizens of the United States who are of Hispanic origin or who are Spanish-speaking. The challenge in crafting the border security bill therefore for both Republicans and Democrats is to be able to show constituents progress on the issue that will make them feel safer without angering or alienating significant Hispanic-American elements of society at the same time.

In other words, to do much that results in nothing. Symbolism over substance.

I guess there's nothing left to do, but say,

"¡Bienvenido a los Estados Unidos!"

I'm beginning to see some paralells here...

PETA defends roaches:
...People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Six Flags Great America to scrap its Halloween-themed cockroach-eating promotion.

A spokeswoman for the animal rights organization says the contest at the amusement park's FrightFest is "gratuitously cruel."

The park in Gurnee, Ill., is joining other Six Flags parks in offering unlimited line-jumping privileges to anyone who eats a live Madagascar hissing cockroach. The bugs are up to three inches long.
While the ACLU defends yet more roaches...

Some saying about birds and feathers comes to mind.

Hillary's bedfellows?

Hillary Clinton has, quite effectively, presented herself as a "middle-0f-the-road" politician with respect to terrorism and the war in Iraq; yet, a perusal into the history of Hillary's judgement regarding whom she has chosen to work with may leave a little bit to be desired. Go to Minnesota Conservative for some eye-opening revelations.

Now this is something...

Vernon Robinson is on a mission. On a mission to finally face the folly that is endorsed illegal immigration. This commercial is priceless:

And, aside from being a fine Congressional candidate with a backbone, Vernon Robinson also happens to be black.

Let's see the card-flippers on the left call this guy a racist.

Chavez: Bush should resign as president

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched yet another verbal assault against President Bush upon returning from a highly charged U.S. visit Friday, calling on the American leader to resign.

Chavez also suggested that New York city police were behind a electrical disruption during his speech Thursday in Harlem, but police denied the allegation.

"He should renounce the presidency if he has any dignity. The president of the United States has failed completely," Chavez said at the inauguration of a natural gas project in northwestern Venezuela.

Can someone just go up and slap this clown upside the head?

Things that make you go barf....

Like a sex scene featuring Rosie O'Donnell...

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- Rosie O'Donnell gave co-star Julian McMahon an eyeful when they were shooting a sex scene for FX Networks' Golden Globe-winning drama "Nip/Tuck."

O'Donnell told "Access Hollywood" that the director tried to shoot around a tube-top that they made her wear. But the director kept yelling "cut" because a bit of the tube-top could be seen in the shot.

So, Rosie fixed the situation by pulling down (her) top.

And that, my friends, is the stuff of nightmares.

Harkin defends Venezuelan President's U-N speech against Bush

by Darwin Danielson

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a democrat, today defended Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's United Nations speech in which Chavez called President George Bush the devil. Harkin said the comments were "incendiary", then went on to say, "Let me put it this way, I can understand the frustration, ah, and the anger of certain people around the world because of George Bush's policies." Harkin continued what has been frequent criticism of the president's foreign policy.

Harkin says Bush came to office saying he wanted a new humility in foreign policy in reaching out to other countries, but Harkin says Bush's actual policy has been heavy handed. Harkin says the anger against Bush is generated from the Iraq war, which Harkin says was "unnecessary."

Harkin says, "We tend to forget that a few days after 9-1-1 thousands, thousands of Iranians marched in a candlelight procession in Teheran in support of the United States. Every Muslim country was basically on our side. Just think, in five years, President Bush has squandered all that." Harkin says the U.S. has put billions of dollars into the Iraq war, when it could be helping poor countries with things like clean water, medical aid and education
Thank you, Senator Harkin. You've restored my faith in the real face of the democrat party (BTW, that was not a compliment).

So what to do with Reuters, the AP, and CNN?

From here:

Terrorist propaganda rife on Internet

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. government is not doing enough to counter terrorist propaganda on the Internet, says analyst Bruce Hoffman.

Hoffman told a congressional briefing that there are more than 5,000 terrorist Internet sites, up by 1,000 from a year ago, and lamented that only 6 percent of the Voice of America budget is devoted to internet communications.

Regarding Murtha's chances...

Among other things, In a veritable buffet of bad news fit to spoil any moonbat's appetite, Phil Brennan opines:
....Rick Santorum will win in Pennsylvania, Virginia Senator George Allen will trounce turncoat James Webb, and - surprise, Rep. John Murtha will go down to a much deserved defeat in Pennsylvania. Sources inside Murtha's campaign told officials of the Boot Murtha group of veterans that Murtha's unfavorable ratings top 50 percent -making him more vulnerable than the media cares to admit. One official told me "If that's true, we'd have to screw up to lose." Boot Murtha is a campaign organized by Vets for the Truth to Redeploy John Murtha - a goal dear to the hearts of every United States Marine who cherishes the reputation of the world's finest military unit that Murtha has dragged through the mud.
But Jihad Jack, blind to the fact that his "big experiment" with dabbling in left-wing radicalism is fizzling, continues to fiddle his defeatist message across the country, while chances for his own re-election, and for his political ambitions in general, smolder in what will be the greatest democrat victory that never was.

Regarding Operation Murtha Go Home...

As I promised, I attended the Rowley-Murtha "cut n' run" tour at the Rosemount VFW yesterday. I was going to write a whole report on the matter, but fellow protest-warrior and freeper Steve did a bang-up job:
..I arrived at the Rosemount VFW at noon, thinking that I'd be pretty much alone. had spoken to PW Leo and he was going to be late because of several reasons. I didn't expect him until after 12:30. I pulled into the driveway of the VFW and both sides were lined with anti-Murtha and Rowley signs! There were three or four children and an elderly woman with Rowley campaign signs.

I was handed a sign I could really get behind: MURTHA GO HOME!! The signs, I found out, were courtesy of the John Kline campaign volunteers that were there. They did a great job. There were probably 30 of us working the driveway and both sides of Hwy 3.

Lots of young people, College Republicans, I found out, from the U, St. Thomas and Bethel. Saw a couple of those black Michael Savage t-shirts. Many of them had been at the "press conference" preceding the trip to Rosemount. Funny thing was, there was no press at the conference. Don't know if they weren't invited or they didn't consider it news.

Both sides treated each other with respect. But, there was the one guy, standing in the middle of the driveway with his Rowley t-shirt that was the designated talking-points-shouter. Never anything supporting Rowley or Murtha, he thinks Bush is going to run again, evidently. "COKE HEAD!!, DRUNK!!, DRAFT DODGER!!" A real sharp dude. The elderly woman had to finally be relieved of her Rowley sign for her own protection. She kept chasing our guy with the big American flag up and down Hwy 3, trying to create an association for the drive-by traffic. When our guy with the flag crossed Hwy 3 to get away from her, she crossed, too. This happened several times until someone stepped in and decided she wasn't as fast as the traffic and took away the sign.

I spoke with a couple of Vets/activists that had been inside the VFW and were now taking a blood-pressure break. I said that was why I was outside instead of inside!

Shortly before 1:00 is was announced that the meeting was breaking up and we started to re-deploy and line both sides of the driveway with our signs for the Murtha/Rowley/Oberstar getaway. Then, the strangest thing happened. The Kline folks announced that we were done and collected all of their signs. I still haven't seen Leo and figured he got hung up and wasn't going to make it. I thought, oh well and headed for home. I'm 30 seconds away from the VFW and Leo calls me and says he's at the VFW. 3-point Highway Patrol turn and I'm back.

Glad I didn't miss the next 15 minutes......

I met Leo, he hands me one of his signs and he offers one to another guy standing there, obviously also waitng for Jack, et al, to emerge from the VFW. Our new friend from Minneapolis declines Leo's offer, because he has something else in mind. A bullhorn. I'll call him "Mr. BH". Murtha comes out of the VFW to applause and starts shaking hands. Mr. BH cuts loose with two-and-half minutes of Murtha's career low-lites. Poor Jack couldn't get past the well-wishers fast enough to lumber into his waiting, gas guzzling, SUV. The only thing Mr. BH couldn't squeeze in before Jack's escape was Abscam. Well done!!

Evidently, all the real crabby people were inside the VFW all the time I was there. When they heard Mr. BH's tirade, they came a runnin', followed closely by their video cam geeks. There was some minor elbowing by the crowd that Mr. BH calmly put to a halt. Yelled talking point were easily defeated by Leo and Mr. BH. Leo was confronted by a gentleman who was so mad at Leo for speaking in a public place that he was shaking, no, vibrating. He basically told Leo to shutup. Leo don't play that. After four minutes and three cigarettes, Mr Shakey stomped off for his car. I hope he didn't have a coronary on the way home. One woman kept following me around the parking lot, demading over and over that I "delist and go fight in the war". Delist???

Out of talking points, they flipped us off one last time and scrambled for their vehicles.

Our response?

"CUT AND RUN!"
Nonetheless, a good time was had by all... save for a few of those with a socialist bent, who kept on proclaiming that Bush was a bigger threat than bin Laden--even another tinfoil hat wearer that said Bush & Cheney brought down the WTC--you know the drill. My greatest satisfaction came from Bullhorn man, who said loud and clear everything John Murtha needed to hear-- how Murtha played judge, jury and executioner to the Haditha Marines without due process; how he continuously badmouths their mission and downgrades their morale and readiness--and it couldn't happen in a better place than in a VFW parking lot.

That two-minute diatribe by Mr. BH was music to my ears. I hope it was stinging Murtha's.

Amy Klobuchar Exposed!!!

Amy Klobuchar--moderate or extreme left wing?

You be the judge.

Blogger extraordinaire Gary Gross has all the details.

A reminder...

Yours truly will be at the Rosemount VFW at noon tomorrow to give a warm Minnesota welcome to one Jack P. Murtha, who, in taking his home district for granted, is out stumping for other dems; in this case, Cindy Sheehan buddy and U.S. Representative wannabee Colleen Rowley.

Colleen Rowley, about as far left as a candidate can go without falling into the Pacific Ocean, thinks that she can win the Minnesota 2nd District Seat from John Kline by importing seditionists like Jack Murtha?

I hope she keeps it up, for you are definitely known by the company you keep.

Murtha's "strategic vision"?

When it comes to assessing the readiness of our military, it appears that Jack P. Murtha, head Al Qaeda cheerleader, knows not of what he speaks (emphases mine):
WASHINGTON — Army officials angrily defended the capability and competence of the service Thursday in response to criticism from a pair of House Democrats who said the fighting force’s readiness is dangerously low.

Outspoken war critic Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., and Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., on Wednesday again called for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld for what they said was his failure to keep the military properly staffed and equipped.

They also released a 12-page report compiled from their staff’s examination of Army reports and congressional information requests, which said funding shortfalls and poor planning have led to “the very real prospect that Army readiness will continue to erode, undermining its ability to meet the theater commanders’ needs …”

But Army officials called the detailed report inaccurate and the conclusion of the congressmen off-base.

“Today’s Army is the highest quality Army this Nation has ever produced — it has not ‘gone south,’” according to a statement released in response to the report. “To imply otherwise is an insult to the young men and women who have volunteered to protect our nation’s freedoms.”

Remember, in his quest for political power, Jack Murtha is no stranger to the concept of gratuitously insulting the integrity of the military.

I am sure the voters of PA-12, 18 percent who are active and retired military voters (not to mention their families and friends), will remember that as well.

Up and Coming BDS...

Not only is Keith Ellison flanked by fruitcake Louis Farrakhan; not only did he support our little Minneapolis-based SLA terrorist Sara Jane Olson, but it would seem that Mr. Ellison, if elected, is hellbent on impeaching Bush.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: “Let me ask you about our current politics. You are running for Congress. … Would you like to use your membership in the House to begin an impeachment proceeding against the President.”

KEITH ELLISON: “I would be supportive of that.”

In yet another blow to terrorists...

Islamofascists aren't the only ones we need to worry about. It's about time some action was taken against a different kind of "home-grown" terrorist (all emphases mine):

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- A federal court in Trenton, N.J., is sentencing a group of animal rights activists for their part in a Web-based campaign of violence and intimidation against a company that conducts medical experiments on animals.

Three members of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, or SHAC, an international network of campaigners, were sentenced Tuesday, and a fourth Wednesday, receiving jail terms of between three and six years.

All four are also liable to pay a million-dollar restitution order against their group, awarded to the target of their campaign, Huntingdon Life Sciences, a British medical research facility owned by New Jersey-based Life Sciences Research, Inc. (emphasis added)

Six members of the group, all in their late 20's and early 30's, became in March the first defendants convicted of offences under the Animal Enterprises Protection Act -- a 1992 law that made it a federal crime to engage in "physical disruption" of animal research facilities, farms, circuses, fairs or other businesses using live animals.

The six were also convicted under federal anti-stalking and telephone harassment laws.

The two remaining defendants will be sentenced next week, bringing to a conclusion a case that has drawn widespread attention, both because of the novelty of prosecutions under the 1992 act and because of the enormous success of the anti-Huntingdon campaign, which continued even after the arrests of its leaders and which last year forced the New York Stock Exchange to cancel a scheduled listing of Life Sciences Research, Inc.

According to evidence in the trial, the campaign included the posting on the SHAC Web site of individual employees' personal information, including their home addresses and phone numbers; the names and ages of their children and where they go to school; their license plate numbers and the churches they go to.

Victims of the SHAC campaign have been assaulted with baseball bats, had their homes and cars vandalized, have had obscene messages painted in their street, received late night telephone calls threatening the lives of their family and subjected to non-stop bullhorn protests in front of their homes.

Kudos to the Court on this one.

Coming to a moonbat candidate near you...

To all our Minnesota and Western-Wisconsin readers:
Congressman John Murtha (D-Penn.) will visit Minnesota to support Second District Congressional Candidate Coleen Rowley on Sunday, September 17th. Congressman Murtha, Minnesota’s senior Congressman, Jim Oberstar (D-MN 8th) and Ms. Rowley will meet U.S. military veterans and the public at the V.F.W. Post No. 9433, Highway 3 at 120th Street West in Rosemount at noon. This represents a change of venue from previous announcements.

Northfield, MN (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Congressman John Murtha (D-Penn.) will visit Minnesota to support Second District Congressional Candidate Coleen Rowley on Sunday, September 17th. Congressman Murtha is a 37-year Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who has served in the U.S. Congress since 1975. He has taken the lead in Washington by proposing to redeploy American troops in Iraq with a resolution widely known as “The Murtha Plan.”

[SNIP]
Rowley noted, by way of contrast, that Kline’s continued praise for and defense of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld is not playing well in the district. “Bush and Kline’s cumulative refusal to admit mistakes by “staying the course” comes at too high a cost to the country. So the race here in Minnesota’s 2nd District is shaping up as a key one that could help John Murtha re-take the Chairmanship of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and Jim Oberstar become the next Transportation Committee Chair.”

The public is invited to call Coleen Rowley’s campaign headquarters in Northfield at (507) 664-3850 for more information about Congressman Murtha’s visit.

Additional Media Information:

Candidate Coleen Rowley and Congressman Jim Oberstar will introduce Congressman Murtha to the press at the Homewood Suites Hotel, 22610 Killebrew Drive in Bloomington, at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 17th. Members of the press and media are invited to join them after the press conference at V.F.W. Post No. 9433, Highway 3 at 120th Street West in Rosemount, when they meet local veterans and the public.
I was thinking, why don't us folks in Minnesota show up to Murtha's little soiree, and give Mr. Murtha a "warm" Minnesota welcome. Email me at psycmeistr at fastmail dot fm if you're interested.

***UPDATE****

The venue for Murtha's visit has changed:

The site for the event is at the VFW Post
Place: V.F.W. Post No. 9433
Highway 3 at 120th Street West in Rosemount

Elbow shelves Twins' Liriano for season

AP Photo/ANDY KING MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins will have to make thei

r playoff push without Francisco Liriano. A strong Rookie of the Year candidate, Liriano walked off the mound because of elbow trouble Wednesday in his highly anticipated return to the Minnesota rotation. After a 1-0 loss to Oakland, manager Ron Gardenhire said Liriano was done for the year.

"Obviously he won't be pitching again," Gardenhire said. "Something is in there bothering and continuing to stop him. ... Obviously when he gets in a game and puts a little extra torque in there, something is not right. We have to make sure we stop it and do what we have to do."

The Twins' lead in the AL wild-card race was cut to 1 1/2 games by Chicago, which beat Los Angeles 9-0.

Liriano slumped off the mound in the third inning. Trainers and Gardenhire immediately rushed out to attend to the All-Star lefty and a hush fell over the crowd that had been so excited to see him back in action.

"The last two pitches I threw, I felt a pop and it really hurts," Liriano said.

I still think that the Twins will take the AL Central; but it would have been a heck of a lot easier with Liriano.

What hath communism wrought...

Kim Jong Il: Let them eat rabbit.
North Korea Encouraging Rabbit Breeding
Wednesday, September 13, 2006

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea is encouraging its people to breed rabbits for food, the regime's official media reported Wednesday.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency reported that rabbits were "the most economically profitable domestic animals" for the mountainous country's limited arable land.

"Rabbit-breeding farms have been built to rapidly increase parent rabbits which have a high fertility rate, grow fast and produce much meat with less feed," KCNA said. "Rabbits are being raised by collective and widespread methods at factories, enterprises, cooperative farms and schools, to say nothing of stock-breeding farms."

North Korea is again proof positive that Communism and socialism do not work:

The communist North has been suffering from food shortages since the mid-1990s, when natural disasters and mismanagement devastated its economy and led to a famine estimated to have killed some 2 million people.

The country was hit by heavy floods in July, which are believed to have caused the loss of some 100,000 tons of food, deepening the chronic shortage.

Kim Jong Il's quest for absolute control and self-aggrandizement, to the detriment of and up to the destruction of his own people, is proof positive not only of his own lunacy, but of the lunacy of communism and its equally ugly sister, socialism; which together have resulted in more death, misery and destruction in the world than any other ideology since time immemoriam.

Why the left continues to embrace despots and despise America is beyond my ability to comprehend.

The Party of Ellison?

As today's primary results show, the party of JFK has become the party of Louis Farrakhan...

Just how far to the left has the Minnesota DFL gone? I submit their chosen congressional candidate for Minnesota's 5th District, Keith Ellison.

In case you weren't familiar with Mr. Ellison, the MN GOP has done some factfinding:

THE FACTS ABOUT KEITH ELLISON

Ellison Embraced Notorious Anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan:

Ellison In 1995: "Minister Farrakhan Is . . . Not An Anti-Semite. He Is A Sincere, Tireless And Uncompromising Advocate Of The Black Community And Other Oppressed People . . . Around The World." (Tim Jones, "Candidate Finds Past Ties A Real Bind," Chicago Tribune, June 30, 2006)

Roll Call: "In Law School, Ellison Wrote An Opinion Piece Defending Louis Farrakhan And Also Helped Bring A Speaker To The Campus For A Lecture Titled: 'Zionism: White Supremacy, Imperialism Or Both?'" (Dan Rasmussen, "Minn. Party Designee May Be in Some Trouble," Roll Call, June 27, 2006)

Ellison Supported Convicted Murder Kathleen Soliah:

Chicago Tribune: "Minneapolis-Area Blogs Have Dug Up Past Statements By Ellison, Such As His Defense In 2000 Of Symbionese Liberation Army Member Kathleen Soliah, Who Later Pleaded Guilty To Murder." Tim Jones, "Candidate Finds Past Ties A Real Bind," Chicago Tribune, June 30, 2006)

Ellison In 2000: "We Need To Come Together And Free Sara." (Tim Jones, "Candidate Finds Past Ties A Real Bind," Chicago Tribune, June 30, 2006)

Star Tribune: "Minneapolis Resident Greg Lang, Whose Website, www.soliah.com, Focuses On Olson's Case, Uncovered And Transcribed Several Audio Recordings Of Speeches Ellison Gave Supporting Soliah/Olson, A Federal Fugitive Who Was Found Living The Life Of A Soccer Mom In St. Paul." (Rochelle Olson & Mark Brunswick, "Ellison's Past Views, Ties Drawing Scrutiny;" Star Tribune, June 28, 2006)

Ellison Criticizes Prosecution Of Convicted Cop Killer:

Star Tribune: Ellison Criticizes 'Political' Prosecutions Of A Former Black Panther Activist Convicted Of Killing A New Jersey Police Officer." "In one 2000 fundraiser speech, Ellison makes reference to the prosecution of Malcolm X's daughter, Qubilah Shabazz, as retribution against Farrakhan. He also spoke about the 'political' prosecutions of a former Black Panther activist convicted of killing a New Jersey police officer." (Rochelle Olson & Mark Brunswick, "Ellison's Past Views, Ties Drawing Scrutiny;" Star Tribune, June 28, 2006)

The democrat party has truly gone to hell in a handbasket. There appears to be no rescuing it.

JFK is doing 360s right now.

9-11...a day to hate America first!

Of course you knew you'd see this coming... the dhimmi left never misses a chance to diss the good ol' U.S. of A.
World remembers 9-11 but many not crying

PARIS (AP) -- The nations of the world joined Monday in solemn remembrance of Sept. 11 - but for many, resentment of the United States flowed as readily as tears.

Critics say Americans have squandered the goodwill that prompted France's Le Monde newspaper to proclaim "We are all Americans" that somber day after the attacks, and that the Iraq war and other U.S. policies have made the world less safe in the five years since 9/11

...And not to be outdone, the Ol' reliable Al Qaeda propagandist, The Boston Globe chimes in:
How safe a world?

September 11, 2006

THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY of the Sept. 11 attacks is a day of remembrance and special sadness for the nation, and all those who knew any of the 2,973 victims. Yet in the long run, the reaction of the Bush administration may prove more harmful to the national interest than even these horrific attacks.

No--the problem isn't the terrorists-- the problem is the United States and George W. Bush, in particular. In fact, in the eyes of many, the terrorists' actions were completely justified, given the "imperialist" bent of the United States.

The leftist media has absolutely no clue regarding the threats that we face and continue to face from the Islamo-fascists that seek to rule the world. To the elitist liberal media, George W. Bush is the real enemy, and any chance whatsoever that they have to undermine him and the war effort is fair game. The possibility of the loss of American life is secondary at best, and is worth the risk to them to see the end game to fruition: The poltical defeat of George W. Bush.

The line that I've been paying a lot attention to lately is thus: Freedom has a flavor that the protected will never know.

And such a notion has no better example than our own leftist media.

The reason for remembrance on this day, IMO, is twofold.

One, to memorialize the victims

Two--to remember just who it was who did this to them, and gain from the memory of what happened the will to annihilate the bastards.

But, given the Nancy-Krats tendency to "smooth over" history, what is the chance of the latter coming to fruition?

There is no point to "just remembering", unless the remembrance moves one to action.

Like "Remember Pearl Harbor" was the rallying cry in our defeat against our enemies in WWII, "Remember 9/11" needs to be the rallying cry of this generation to defeat the Islamist threat.

Dementee has a post about why we must never forget.

I suggest that every man and woman in America takes a good, long, hard look at it.

September 11, 2001---we remember...

As part of Operation 2996, I will remember and pay tribute to the life of Scott Jeffrey Weingard, who was killed in the dastardly attack on the World Trade Center:

The Man on the Trapeze

A fantastic athlete he was, but "a gymnast trapeze stuntman he was not," Marc Shapiro recalled about his friend, Scott Weingard. But being the daring sort of person who would squeeze in an adventure whenever he could, Mr. Weingard gladly volunteered to fly with the professional trapeze team while on vacation at a Club Med resort a few years ago.

"There he was, swinging along, doing his thing with his lanky body while we were cheering him on," Mr. Shapiro said, laughing.

Friends began to call Mr. Weingard "First Time Scottie" because he was so often in the position of doing something totally out of the ordinary and new. He was also known for making friends, and keeping them. While still at the resort, Mr. Weingard, a trader at Cantor Fitzgerald who would have been 30 on Sept. 23, disappeared for a while.

Where did he go? "We found him befriending the whole island," recalled Mr. Shapiro, a buddy since their kindergarten days in Dix Hills, on Long Island.

His girlfriend, Julie Kaufmann, called him an angel. His cousin, Jeff Honigstock, interviewed on a recent Thursday, said: "I'm missing him today. It would have been a perfect day for happy hour with Scottie."

Scottie Weingard was one of those camp councelors that seemed more like an older brother than an authority figure. When I learned of his demise, I absolutely couldn't believe it. Rest in peace Scottie, lord knows there must be some reason why this terrible tragic thing happened.

To Scott and others who passed ad astra on that fateful day, our prayers continue to be with your families, and WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

A hero is laid to rest...

I attended the funeral of a hero today. In terms of describing the character of Sgt. Joshua Hanson, I could pay no better tribute than that put out by the family:

The funeral, though somber and humbling, was beautiful.

The Patriot Guard Riders, at least 200 of them, were there as escorts and flag bearers..

Since there were over 700 in attendance, way too many for a procession, school buses were on hand to take mourners to the cemetary... The Patriot Guard riders were at the cemetary to greet the mourners

Joshua's comrades in arms render a 21-gun salute... and then "Taps" is played...

Right now I'm too drained to write anything profound...

Just suffice it to say, All gave some; and some gave all...
