Some Thoughts on Sarah Palin...

From a friend of mine who has been a long-time resident of Alaska:

She's a good speaker. Has a kind of "Minnesota" speech in her accent. Very charming. She's strong, and can go after an opponent pretty good and still come off classy.

Yeah, she didn't win any points for hitting up the oil companies with an increased tax. Most of the local conservative talk shows demonized her as anti-oil, anti-business development in Alaska.

I think it was misguided, and I think she listened to bad advice from her cabinet members.

I think she has a good heart, and a willingness/drive to do well. She was a popular mayor, and is soaring in popularity with the Alaska voters. It'll be interesting to see what local talk radio has to say now that she's the nominee.

Strategically, I think she'll take votes from the middle-class workers not inspired by Obama's grand entrance last night. Also, the soccer moms, and maybe even ladies who liked Clinton. Ethics won her the Governor's job. She'll be hard to beat there. Politically, many call her a RINO. She's moderate fiscally. I think she looks at big business a little too harshly, but maybe she'll see things differently as she gets more exposure.

Personally conservative, she tends to lean a bit left in political thought.

I'm happy with her. I'll vote McCain.

BREAKING NEWS: IT'S NEARLY OFFICIAL: PAWLENTY FOR VEEP!

I just got off the phone with Andy Barnett, who informs me that he just recently spoke with Pawlenty Press Secretary, Alex Carey. While Mr. Carey did not actually state that Pawlenty was the choice, there was excitement in his voice, and he did state that Governor Pawlenty "cleared his schedule" for the weekend.

Meanwhile, according to Barnett, a source very close to the Romney campaign stated that Governor Romney had not heard anything with regard to VP plans within this past hour.

Obama, Inc?

It appears that Obama's alleged birth certificate has been deemed a forgery, calling to question whether Obama was born in the United States, which would be a Constitutional prerequisite for his ability to legally run for President.

A petition for the Obama campaign to release a paper copy of his birth certificate was allegedly met with a veiled/not so veiled threat against the petition originator's family from an "Obama supporter," which forced the originator of the petition to shut down the site.

This suggests that the Obama campaign, which has taken Clinton, Inc., head on, is not afraid to utilize Clintonian tactics in dealing with detractors.

Just where is that birth certificate, Barack "Hussein" Obama?

McCain did this to himself.

Not that we won't be able to clobber Obama on a myriad flip flops, dance-arounds, terrorist and thug love-ins and Nipper-Dog moments, but John McCain did this one to himself:

Dear Leo,

I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.

On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.

I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.

When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House.

Obama: The truth hurts.

The list of what we can no longer criticize about Barack Hussein-- (oops) -- Obama continues. Even if it's the truth. Now it just so happens that whatever his wife says is beyond reproach:

Earlier, Obama told critics in an interview aired on ABC's "Good Morning America" to "lay off my wife."

The Illinois senator was responding to an online ad run by the Tennessee GOP that, during a four-minute video, replays six times Michelle Obama's comment that "for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country." Michelle Obama has clarified her remark, saying she meant she is proud of the public's engagement in this year's political process. Obama called the ad "just low class."

Obama said that if he wins the nomination, Republicans "can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record. But, he added, "if they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful, because I find unacceptable the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family."

This would be fair enough if Michelle Obama didn't insert herself and her words as part and parcel of her husband's campaign. But in that very same interview, Michele Obama did just that:

In the joint interview, Michelle Obama said, "We're trusting that the American voters are ready to talk about the issues." She also denied speculation that she has ruled out a place by Clinton on her husband's ticket.

"There's no way that I would say 'absolutely not' to one of the most successful and powerful and groundbreaking women on this planet," Michelle Obama said. Empathizing with her as someone who raised "a phenomenal daughter" while in politics, she said, "I think the world of Hillary Clinton," and added, "I know how hard, just in the little bit of exposure I've had to this, what she's had to deal with and what she's accomplished."

Word to Michelle Obama: If you can't take the political heat, then get the hell in the kitchen and bake some cookies.

Looks like Obama's church picked yet another winner...

(emphases mine) CHICAGO — The new pastor of Barack Obama’s church delivered a defiant defense of its retiring reverend Sunday, comparing media coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. to a modern-day lynching that resembles Jesus’ death at the hands of the Romans.

In a sunrise Easter sermon, Rev. Otis Moss III never mentioned Wright by name, but implied that his mentor, who has delivered sermons in which he likened the U.S. to the Ku Klux Klan and declared it damned for its “state-sponsored terrorism,” is facing the same challenges Jesus did.”No one should start a ministry with lynching, no one should end their ministry with lynching,” Moss said.

Comparing Jeremiah Wright to the fate of Jesus Christ?

Last time I checked, Jesus Christ didn't advocate for the annihilation of the Jews. Jesus forgave the Jews.

If Rev. Jeremiah Wright was the victim of a modern day "lynching," the "lynching" was done by his own hand, and by his own rope.

The Church that Barack Obama has attended for the past twenty years has endorsed and published an article that calls for the destruction of Israel, that according to World Net Daily.

JERUSALEM – Sen. Barack Obama’s Chicago church reprinted a manifesto by Hamas that defended terrorism as legitimate resistance, refused to recognize the right of Israel to exist and compared the terror group’s official charter – which calls for the murder of Jews – to America’s Declaration of Independence.

The Hamas piece was published on the “Pastor’s Page” of the Trinity United Church of Christ newsletter reserved for Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose anti-American, anti-Israel remarks landed Obama in hot water, prompting the presidential candidate to deliver a major race speech earlier this week.

Hamas, responsible for scores of shootings, suicide bombings and rocket launchings against civilian population centers, is listed as a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department.

The revelation follows a recent WND article quoting Israeli security officials who expressed “concern” about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group.

So, not only has Barack’s pastor damned America; he saw it fit to endorse an organization whose main purpose is to oversee the destruction of Israel.

Dems: err... your slip is showing...

That about sums up this story at Fox News about democrats vowing once again to end the race debate in the 2008 campaign:

National Public Radio national correspondent Juan Williams, a FOX News analyst, said a potential complication following Obama’s speech is the attention that it continues to draw to the issue of race. It poses a problem in a campaign where the candidates are trying to focus on the economy, national security and health care.

“He doesn’t want to be the black candidate in the race, because he wants to be the candidate who transcends race … suddenly he’s back in the box as just a black candidate,” Williams said.

The race issue appears to have had an effect on voters.

A CBS poll showed that 25 percent of those surveyed had heard “a lot” about Wright’s comments, while 33 percent had heard some. Of those aware of the story, 15 percent of Democrats, 36 percent of Independents and 47 percent of Republicans said it made them see Obama less favorably.

A Rasmussen survey taken from March 14-16 of 1,200 likely voters showed 56 percent of those interviewed were less likely to vote for Obama because of the Wright’s sermons.

And for the second day in a row, Clinton took the lead in the Gallup daily tracking poll. The poll from March 15-17 showed Clinton with 47 percent support among Democrats and Obama with 44 percent. The two candidates have been neck-and neck throughout the month of March.

Obama’s speech Tuesday was widely praised as a heartfelt, candid assessment of racial divisions that put bitterness between whites and blacks in historical context.

“With this speech Barack Obama showed he’s ready to be president of the United States,” said Democratic strategist Dan Gerstein. “The question now is, is America ready for Barack Obama?”

But it was also widely noted that Obama will probably not be done with the race issue if he becomes the Democratic candidate.

The Democratic candidates are finally starting to realize that when it comes to tackling race, they run the risk doing nothing other than airing their own dirty laundry.

The dirty little secret is that, despite their best efforts, race will always be an issue in a democrat campaign for any office in the land, because for the past five decades, democrats have set up their policies and rhetoric in such a manner that race matters.

Whether it's regarding affirmative action or any of a myriad of class-warfare inspired talking points, the white limousine liberal establishment have set up the plantation in such a manner as to convince a whole race of people that they are victims; and as such, are powerless in matters of self-determination, and impotent with regard to their affairs without the "benevolent, paternal assistance" of the white limousine liberal establishment; who promise to be there to distribute meager morsels of sustenance as token rewards for their continuing allegiance.

And woe be to those who stray off of that plantation.

I have said it often, and I'll say it again. If the KKK, the Nazis and the Aryan Nation suddenly came to power, they could do no more damage to Black Americans than that wrought by the limousine liberal establishment over the past five decades.

One cannot extract race from democrat politics. They are forever and inextricably intertwined; that is, as long as there continue to be people of differing shades of melatonin who are willing to buy into their empty promises and scaremongering tactics.

Count every vote?

From the party that nearly coined the mantra, “COUNT EVERY VOTE!” back in the 2000 elections, comes a message to democrat voters in Michigan and Florida:

Pound sand.

On Wednesday, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, a Republican, released a joint statement, urging the national parties to “seat our delegates.”

“The right to vote is at the very foundation of our democracy,” the governors said. Given the record turnout in this primary season, “it is reprehensible that anyone would seek to silence the voices of 5,163,271 Americans. It is intolerable that the national political parties have denied the citizens of Michigan and Florida their votes and voices at their respective national conventions,” Granholm and Crist said.

The Democratic National Committee sent a pointed message to Florida and Michigan on Wednesday:

“We’re glad to hear that the Governors of Michigan and Florida are willing to lend their weight to help resolve this issue,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said in a news release.
“As we’ve said all along, we strongly encourage the Michigan and Florida state parties to follow the rules, so today’s public overtures are good news.”

But the answer is no, Dean continued: “The Democratic Nominee will be determined in accordance with party rules, and out of respect for the presidential campaigns and the states that did not violate party rules, we are not going to change the rules in the middle of the game.”

So the Democrats have in effect disenfranchised the vote of laid-off auto workers in Detroit, not to mention senior citizens and Latinos in Florida.

How magnanimous of the DNC.

But one must remember, disenfranchisement of the voters is nothing new in the liberal democrat playbook. Remember,

Disenfranchising the Military

Gore talks of “unity.” But now we learn the Clinton-Gore administration didn’t want any soldiers to vote on base.

Basking in his Florida Supreme Court victory last night, Al Gore waxed high-minded. “Both Gov. Bush and I should urge all our supporters to refrain from any comments . . . that could make it harder for us to come together as one nation when the process is completed,” he declared in a speech at his residence, delivered just in time for the 11 o’clock news on the East Coast.

But what about the actions of Mr. Gore’s supporters? Down in Florida, in a concerted effort to trim George W. Bush’s margin of victory, they challenged a great many overseas absentee ballots, many of which come from military members. County canvassers disqualified a total of 1,527 ballots from overseas, according to an Associated Press report–more than 40% of the total. What could be more divisive than disfranchising Americans who are risking their lives to defend their country?

For decades now, the DNC and the ilk of their leadership have loved to masquerade as a voice for “the common man;” but the dirty little secret remains– there is a clear pattern of and a marked willingness to throw the common man under the bus when it suits their agenda. From the many democrats who refused to vote for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (a much-higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats voted for the measure), to the “bimbo eruption patrols” during the Clinton administration that denied civil rights and due process to Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick; to their willingness to trample on personal property rights and parental rights to push an agenda or further a special interest, the Democrats have proven time and time again that they care for the common man to much the same degree that Ted Bundy cared about his dates.

Count. Every. Vote.

Oh Really?

In reality, the DNC’s decision to disenfranchise rank-and-file voters in Michigan and Florida, just to smite the leadership of their respective state parties, was a tactical error from day one. As a result, the DNC and their respective endorsed candidates have left themselves wide open for a beating by Republicans just as sure as if Howard Dean stepped in the ring, handcuffed and blindfolded, against Mike Tyson.

McCain almost calls himself a liberal...

Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain almost called himself a liberal on Thursday, getting ahead of himself as he contrasted himself with the Democratic candidates.

“I’m a proud, conservative, liberal Republi- Hello! Easy there,” McCain said, laughing along with his audience at Texas Instruments Inc.

He corrected himself immediately. “Let me say this: I am a proud, conservative Republican, and both of my possible or likely opponents today are liberal Democrats.”

Ooookayyy.

Now's the time for all good moonbats to vote their conscience...
