"Hello, Is This Thing On?"

Obama lifted his political skirt today as the media is now awash in how in a supposedly 'hot mic' unscheduled moment he told Russian President Dimitri Medvedev to pretty much 'chill out' and that he'd have much more 'flexibility' after winning his second term.

The main question to ask here, of course, is "Flexibility to do what?"

Well, perhaps candidate Obama can give us some clues:

In the full video, then-candidate Obama later stated that he is fully committed to the policy as outlined above, and that he will "keep (his) promises."

But before you go dismissing out of hand the notion that Barack Obama keeps any of his promises, consider this:

Obama promised that health care 'reform' will pass; it did so, even though via the auspices of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, we indeed did not find out what was in the bill until it was passed.

During the campaign, then-candidate Obama also promised that under his policies, the cost of electricity/energy will "necessarily skyrocket."

That too, has become reality.

There are some promises, of course, that Obama chose not to keep; and one could argue never intended to keep. One was that you'd be able to keep your doctor and your health plan under Obamacare; another that the public would never be forced to pay for an abortion under Obamacare; you know, lipstick-on-a-pig type stuff.

But make no mistake. Obama is a dyed in the wool socialist. Any promise he has made that will serve to further his neo-socialist agenda, and in the process compromise America's economic and military security (remember, America is arrogant and needs to be taken down a few notches), you can bet your bottom dollar (that is, if you have any dollars left when he's done with the economy) he will keep.

So, sleep peacefully under Obama's second term, knowing that he fully intends to bring the United States into the community of feckless, neutered, third-world nations.

How's that hopenchange working for you, anyway?

How Barack Obama lowered my health care costs; and other fairy tales...

I have participated in my company's flex plan for quite some time now. It was a way for families to reduce the cost of their health care by making the money you spend on non-prescription, non-direct care medically-related items into pre-tax deductions, and reimbursed as you go along.

Well...wouldn't you know that His Royal Arrogance, Barack Hussein Obama (D-Mm-Mm-Mm), in all his beneficence and amidst all his promises to make health care more affordable, just made my healthcare more expensive (please click on the pic below for full size):

Not only that, but my wife happens to work for a subsidiary of Baxter medical. A number of years ago, employees were awarded 100 shares each of Baxter stock- a great company with stature and a promising future in the medical field.

Well, wouldn't you know, that with a stroke of a pen, is Royal Arrogance, Barack Hussein Obama (D-Mm-Mm-Mm-pbuh), took over $1300 out of our pockets with his signing of that miraculous "health care reform" bill:
Shares of Baxter International Inc. dropped 13 percent Thursday after the company lowered its 2010 financial outlook, citing the loss of market share for key plasma-derived therapies and the impact of the government's massive health care overhaul..
Yeah, quiz kid. You certainly did "do it."

A "Thank You" Note...

Wow--I received this neat email letter today from none other than Joltin' Joe Biden!
Leo --

Two weeks after it was signed into law, health insurance reform is still the talk of the town.

It's for a good reason: This was a historic accomplishment. But it wasn't easy. I remember what it's like to be a senator and take a tough stand on an issue -- confident that it's the best thing for your constituents, but equally sure that special interests will pour buckets of money into attacking you for it.

Your senators, Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, took that tough stand when they supported health reform. Now, we need to provide a line of defense money can't buy: the voices of real constituents speaking out and showing their support.

That's where you come in. Do you have three minutes to jot down a quick letter to your local newspaper? If you need ideas on what to say, you can watch a quick video Organizing for America put together about how reform will benefit Minnesota.

Believe me, senators and their staff read the letters page -- because they know just how influential it can be. Your letter could make a tremendous difference.

In my conversations with my old colleagues, I made it clear that this White House was prepared to back them up -- that no barrage of partisan attack ads would go unanswered. But to follow through, I'm going to need some help from folks like you.

This legislation will put Americans in control of their own health care, rein in insurance-company abuses, and give millions of Americans access to affordable health care for the first time.

Special interests know that in the coming months, all their lies about reform will be proven false. But that won't stop them from inventing new ones and spreading attack ads.

It's just the first step, but one letter from a constituent is worth a hundred paid advertisements. So please make sure your friends and neighbors understand the benefits this law will bring to ordinary Americans -- take three minutes and write a paragraph or two now:

http://my.barackobama.com/SenateThank

Thanks,

Vice President Joe Biden
Well, shucks--that was mighty nice of ol' Joe--I mean--to offer the resources of Organizing for America to write a letter of 'thanks' to Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken for their thoughtful consideration in voting for Obamacare! It was so nice, that I thought I would take him up on his offer. So, I wrote the following LTE to the St. Cloud Times, the Star Tribune, and the Duluth Tribune, all on OFA's dime:
I am writing this letter to voice my disgust over Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar's blind passage of the behemoth health care bill that is neither about bringing down the cost of health care nor of expanding the coverage of quality health care. Already we are seeing the effects of planned layoffs at corporations who will, by virtue of the mandates of the bill, be required to lay off hundreds of workers, merely to stay in business. This, along with the proposed Value Added Tax (VAT) could not come at a worse time, and will only prolong this, the greatest recession since the 1930s. This bill was ill conceived from the onset, and it is clear that Senators Klobuchar and Franken lacked the integrity to do the right thing and to block the passage to the greatest affront to America's personal and financial liberties since before the American Revolution.

Rest assured, the voters will long remember this transgression, and Senators Klobuchar and Franken will go down in History in the Hall of One-Term Wonders.
Admittedly, It may not be the type of "thank you" letter that Joe Biden, Barack Obama and OFA had in mind, but what the heck. They were the ones that sent the invite.

Forget the "nuclear option." The dems are going Thermo-Nuclear.

As Red State and Let Freedom Ring have reported, there is a movement afoot led by democrat representative Louise Slaughter to pass the Senate version of the Health Care bill without even having to vote on it. As Congress Daily reports:
House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.

Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.
This end-around around the Constitutional intent of internal and external checks and balances is nothing less than appalling and dictatorial.

As the polls clearly illustrate, the democrats are now attempting to rule against the consent of the governed, and are doing so with an iron fist, regardless of the consequences. Although they know full well that their present course will invariably spell political disaster for them in November, they continue to press on and fall on their swords for their megalomanaiacal commander in chief. This brazen and blatant thwarting of the will of the people is illustrative of the democrat majority and President Obama as acting not as elected representatives, but as overlords.

At least Bill Clinton had enough sense to read the tea leaves in 1994 that the public wanted no part of government-run health care, and let the issue go. In 2006, George W. Bush let go of his signature issue, the privatization of Social Security (which to this day I believe was a good idea) when the democrats convinced a majority of the people to reject it. But Barack Hussein Obama, being the narcissist and megalomaniac that he is, will have none of it. Tyrant and statist that he is, he will get his 'legacy' enacted, even at the expense of his underlings, and even at the expense of the well-being of the American people.

Well, we certainly have our 'change,' don't we. I'm still waiting on the 'hope' part; but I won't hold my breath.

Sympathy for the Devil...

Actually, the election last night of Scott Brown, along with the concommitant derailing of Obamacare, may have had the net effect of saving the democrats from themselves; and pulling our nation back from the brink of politburo-style tyranny in the process.

One year ago, on my 49th birthday, I bemoaned the wholesale adoption of statist government as Barack Hussein Obama took his oath of office.

Today, on my 50th birthday, I'm feeling a bit more optimistic.

There are times when I feel God gave us Barack Obama to wake us up.

The evil intentions of men are no match for Divine Providence.

May GOD continue to awaken us, and to protect us.

Congressman Rogers (R-MI) Nails it on Obamacare

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Exclusive: Rumors of lack of RNC support for Scott Brown may have been greatly exaggerated..

Jules Crittendon (quoting an article from the Boston Herald, and echoed by Ed Morrissey), has reported that Massachusetts GOP Senatorial Candidate Scott Brown has received little support, and may have actually been written off by the RNC.

Having just gotten off a blogger conference call with Mr. Brown, I can categorically state that Brown denies any lack of support for his campaign by the RNC. In fact, in the call Brown stated that his campaign has received "..everything from the RNC that we have asked for."

It would appear that the story from the Boston Herald was designed not to report on the status of, but rather to outright sabotage the momentum of Brown's Senate campaign.

Regardless, Brown did state that he looks forward to donations from every corner of the country, since his election would assist not only the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but the entire nation.

Indeed, Brown's election would break the stranglehold majority that the DNC has on the U.S. Senate, and it would be nearly axiomatic that Obamacare, at least in its current form, would not see the light of day in a final Senate vote.

In fact, it is very likely that the election of Scott Brown to fill the seat of Ted Kennedy may be our last hope in evading what could be a very dark chapter in America's history.

If you are so inclined, please donate to Brown's campaign here.

And You Trust These Buffoons With Your Health Care?

If you go to Recovery.gov. you will see the wonderful contributions you as a taxpayer have made to the betterment of our economy. Like all the wonderful contributions, for example, made to the 57 congressional districts here in the great State of Minnesota:

(click on pic for full size)

So, how's that "57th" Congressional District in Minnesota doing? Or for that matter, the "00th" district?

That's a pretty neat trick by the Obama administration tallying up all those jobs saved.

Given, of course, that Minnesota is home to only 8 congressional districts. Unless, of course, the Obama administration was actually referring to the fabled 57th state.

And you want to trust these incompetent boobs to handle your healthcare?

Congressman Mike Rogers on Obamacare

Mr. Rogers certainly hit the nail on the head with this one:

In a Grand Spirit of Open-ness...

The long-promised $1.055 TRILLION health care bill was introduced this morning. Nancy Pelosi and her fellow-travellers in Congress were SO PROUD of this leap to the left, that they blocked access to its unveiling to all but a few "invited guests."
The West side of the Capitol — the area where President Barack Obama was inaugurated — is traditionally open to the public. But the entrances were blocked off Thursday morning by metal fences, with Capitol police officers standing next to staff members holding clipboards with lists of approved attendees.
The money quote:
Democrats repeatedly touted the openness of the development of their health care bill, which House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called "the most deliberative, transparent and open process" he had seen in his career on Capitol Hill.
Err... "May I see your papers, please?"

Scorched Earth: Dems To Exercise Nuclear Option on Obamacare!

Connie Hair on Human Events reports:

The bill certified for “reconciliation” is the Ways & Means version of H.R. 3200 that was passed out of committee before the August break, and before it was read aloud at town hall meetings across the country and blasted by voters across the country.

It contains all of the horrors previously exposed: federal funding of abortion, coverage for illegal aliens, comparative effectiveness, healthcare rationing, deep cuts to Medicare. Everything the American people overwhelmingly reject.

No amendments were allowed at the hearing and no debate. Rangel told Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), the ranking Republican on the committee, that he would not have preferred to do it this way, but leadership — i.e., Speaker Pelosi — forced his hand.

Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. By so obviously thwarting the will of a vast majority of the American people, It would appear to that the democrats are quite willing to relegate themselves into a permanent minority, if it will advance America’s downward spiral into the bowels of their great socialist experiment.

They want it that bad.

The ends, after all, justify the means.

The Million Med March

Doctors across the nation are furious about health care and aren't going to take it anymore!

From Medscape (subscription required)

"I'm tired, mad as hell, and just not going to take it anymore," says Richard Chudacoff, MD, a gynecologist from Las Vegas. "I am going to Washington, DC. At noon, on Thursday, October 1, 2009, I will be on the Mall with a few other physicians."

Dr. Chudacoff is not talking about vacation plans. Rather, he intends to unite with other physicians in what he calls the Million Med March.

"We simply decided that we will not work that day and perhaps the day before and maybe even the day afterward," says Dr. Chudacoff. "Perhaps we will show the country that physicians are worth more than a $5 copay; that physicians are more important than a mid-level healthcare worker; and that our profession is needed, our services are required, and our practice is a calling to be respected, not a trade that is to be negotiated to the lowest bidder."

A letter posted by Dr. Chudacoff on www.obgyn.net in June has been spreading like wildfire across the Internet, finding its way to personal blogs, discussion groups, and professional forums. On June 23, it was posted to Medscape's Physician Connect (MPC), a physician-only discussion group, where it sparked a flurry of responses. A number of MPC postings suggest that Dr. Chudacoff will have plenty of company on October 1.

"Finally, something constructive," says a dermatologist. "I'll see you in DC on October 1. Some of the office staff, including our nurse, expressed a wish to be there too. Bring spouses and friends and anybody else who actually cares about healthcare in the US."

"I have cleared my schedule and plan to attend," responds a vascular surgeon. "I think this type of grassroots action, unaffiliated with hospitals, insurance companies, or the AMA, is likely to get the most sympathetic attention."

"This is the best proactive effort I have heard from physicians," says an MPC family medicine physician. "Actions speak louder than words."

"I can be there without changing my schedule," adds an anesthesiologist. "I was just terminated from my office-based practice where I have been for 7 years."

One physician's decision to take a stand and unite with his fellow colleagues has given doctors a simple way to show the public and elected officials that healthcare, for them, is not a political agenda. It is their life and livelihood. And in recent weeks, the partisan discussions in the Senate and House of Representatives on healthcare legislation have seemingly marginalized -- and at times even maligned -- physicians.

"I was for nationalized healthcare," says a family medicine physician, "but I thought that meant providing a safety net for needy Americans. But this monster of a bill is something quite different."

"Politicians and payers have turned our profession into a political football," retorts an anesthesiologist.

President Obama's recent tonsillectomy remark, in which he insinuated that doctors make medical decisions based on what they would be paid for a procedure rather than the best treatment for the patient, has further incensed physicians. "As a hard-working, conscientious physician, I am offended. It's like racial stereotyping. Only now it's about a group that is mostly overworked, tired, and saving people's lives," retorts a family medicine practitioner.

It is clear that every day Obama and his marxist minions try to ram this albatross of a "health care" plan down Americans' throats spells more and more certain doom for the far-left power structure of this nation.

The full measure of ire from the American people is yet to be felt, but feel it they will.

Regarding Pots & Kettles...

They're telling Congressman Joe Wilson to apologize on the House Floor for yelling, "Liar," (or face censure) when, in effect, Obama told a lie.

Given all the smarmy, self-righteous chest beating by the usual suspects on the left, somehow, I've yet to hear an apology on the House floor for Jack Murtha calling brave Marines in Haditha who were following ROE cold blooded killers.

I may have missed something, but I haven't heard a peep out of Harry Reid for loudly proclaiming that the Iraq war was lost in a preemptive attempt to sabotage the well-being of our troops in hopes that the Petraeus-led surge would fail.

I may have been out to lunch, but I must have missed the time on the House Floor when Nancy Pelosi issued her apology for labeling the CIA liars, or when she publicly labelled George Bush a total failure.

I may have missed the boat, but I still can't remember when John Kerry apologized on the Senate Floor for saying all our soldiers did was to terrorize women and children in the dead of night.

Perhaps I also missed the apology from Algore in his now infamous "HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!!!" rant.

I most certainly must have missed the apology issued by then-Senator Hillary Clinton after she as much as called General Petraeus a bald-faced liar, right to his face, during the Senate hearings that supposedly were conducted to assess the success of the surge.

But I don't think I've been living under a rock. I don't think I've been sleeping at all. Because an elitist democrat, no matter how despicable his or her words or actions, NEVER apologizes.

But this-- no, this was the unforgivable sacrilege of Joe Wilson, a Republican slandering not only a democrat, but "The One" himself, by actually-gasp-telling the truth!

Having no leg to stand on to challenge the simple two-word assertion by Wilson (You lied!), just like they had no substantive argument against Joe the Plumber, or against Sarah Palin, the leftwing fever swamp, including their toadies in the media, have now swarmed like a bunch of brain-dead zombies in an all out concerted effort to attack the character of Joe Wilson. Even by going so far as to say--now get this--that he's a--double gasp-- caffiene addict (hey--desperate times call for desperate measures)!

Projection, the tendency to project one's own failings and character flaws onto others, has always been a hallmark of the left.

Their latest senseless tirade against Congressman Joe Wilson is nothing less than symptomatic of their own pathologies.

On Polishing a Turd...

PBO tonight gave a speech dripping with lies, half-truth, gratuitous heart string tugging, condescension, and oh--did I mention LIES?

After projecting the use of fearmongering tactics toward the opposition while immediately utilizing gratuitously inane examples of people supposedly dying without Obamacare, The One went on to state that people unnecessarily utilizing the emergency room was a major factor in increased health care costs. Consequently, his plan would impose a hefty fine on those who chose not to purchase health care insurance, comparing it to the requirement for drivers to purchase car insurance [WORD TO PBO: Driving is an elective act; living is not].<--unless, of course, you happen to be Ezekiel Emanuel --ED]

Getting back to the subject, in the same speech, PBO also stated that his plan would not extend health care for illegal immigrants who, given their status, utilize emergency rooms on a disproportionate basis.

So Okay, Barack--then how do you reconcile the following:

HR 3200 sec 59b pg 170 line 1 nonresident alien exempt from individual taxes (YOU will pay for their healthcare) #912 (via @TheRedDianthus)

Riddle me this, Barry: If you don't extend your highly vaulted public option to illegal immigrants, yet refuse to charge them (like you will the rest of us) for failing to obtain health insurance, how do you figure to stem the tide of illegals flooding our emergency rooms?

In terms of dripping condescension, Obama gave the song and dance about being willing to listen and to discuss opposing viewpoints, yet in nearly the same breath and on more than one occasion, accused those with opposing viewpoints with "..spreading fairy tales."

And isn't it a little difficult to entertain opposing viewpoints when you haven't listened to any since last April?

Obama also utilized the Alinsky tactic of "speaking the language" of your audience while twisting its meaning, as he spoke of the virtues of rugged individualism, while at the same time selling a plan in which individual choices are all but effectively snuffed.

So, in other words, we were just dealt the same old turds we've always been dealt, painted with flowery pastels and verbal lipstick.

Yes, Barack Hussein Obama just spent the better part of an hour tonight attempting to polish a turd.

But polish as he might, anyone with half a brain could still smell the stench from a mile away.

And let's not forget a rare moment of lucidity on the part of none other than Howard Dean:

I Know This Song Parody Doesn't Make Much Sense...

But then again, neither does Obamacare...

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the one that Obama gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Nancy
When she's two feet tall

And if you go talking Obamacare
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Barney
When he was just small

When men in the Congress
Get up and tell you where to go
And tell you to take some kind of pain pill
If your mind is moving slow
Go ask Barack
I think he'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
With the spinmeisters talking backwards
And the Pelosi's "off with her head!"
Remember what Alinsky said;
"Keep YOUR HEAD
_______________
Keep your head"

Astroturfing in New Hampshire..

I knew that there was something #fishy about this AP Story regarding the Portsmouth, NH Obamacare rally, featuring the Chief Snake Oil Salesman, himself:
The White House had been ready for an unruly reception from opponents of overhauling health care. There was no sign of that, perhaps because of the makeup of the day's crowd or out of traditional deference for the president.

Obama's push came amid a string of disruptive health care town halls nationwide that have overshadowed his message and threatened to derail support in Congress. Indeed, Republican-turned-Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter faced hostile questions, taunts and jeers earlier Tuesday as he tried to explain his positions at a town hall in Lebanon, Pa. Voter fears of a government takeover of health care were on stark display.

Some lawmakers, holding forums during Congress' August recess, have gone so far as to replace public forums with teleconferences or step up security to keep protesters at bay.

But the Democratic president faced no outbursts.

The encounter was so friendly, in fact, that by the end Obama was even asking for skeptical questioners to come forward — to no avail.

Of course, to the clueless AP state-run media, there was nothing #fishy about this happenstance. But to anyone with a google search engine, the reasons were obvious:
On Monday dozens of workers — including White House staffers — spent hours setting up the high school auditorium for Obama's forum, which is only open to those members of the public who secured tickets. Organizers would not disclose how many tickets were issued.

John Moran, 71, of Nottingham was among the many who went to the school to pick up tickets for an event marking Obama's first trip to the Granite State since he took office in January.

Moran, a Democrat, said he is a strong Obama supporter who was thrilled when he got a call notifying him that he would have two tickets for today's Town Hall forum.

The Nottingham resident said his wife — who will also be attending — was even more excited with the chance to see Obama live.

"She is really tickled. You should have seen her ... she was jumping up and down," Moran said.

Moran said he has a couple questions in mind if he is called on at the forum with one of them being how the president intends to get health insurance companies to work with him to reform health care.

He said he hopes Obama's plan will push for a more proactive approach to healthy living that involves coverage for preventive health care like screening and exercise.

Kathleen O'Brien, 64, and Jean Sanders, 66, both of Atkinson, said they will be sitting on stage for the event as they worked on Obama's campaign beginning in 2007.

On Monday they both went to the high school to pick up tickets and their excitement was more than evident.

"He is as good as everyone says he is. The last person I worked this hard for was Robert Kennedy," O'Brien said.

O'Brien wore an American flag-style scarf around her neck and a lanyard carrying several Obama pins.

She said she's read most of Obama's reform bill concerning health care, but still wants more information.

"I want to hear as much as possible about the plan," O'Brien said.

O'Brien and Sanders said they spent the weekend calling those who were selected in the lottery to receive tickets.

Sanders said some people sounded like they had just won a fortune when they were informed they would be able to attend the forum and hear Obama speak first-hand about his plan.

"It was unbelievable," Sander said.
Now here's the real 'laugh-a-minute' quote:
O'Brien said she is sure many "hecklers" will be outside Portsmouth High School trying to derail reform, but she said anyone paying attention to the specifics of the plan will support what Obama is trying to do. She balked at those who say the plan is not in the best interest of senior citizens.

"He is actually protecting seniors," O'Brien said.

Now that's Astroturf you can believe in.
