Make no mistake. They are no longer the "Bush tax cuts." They were tax cuts when they were enacted in 2001 and 2003. They have been the going tax rate for the past 9 years. They are the Bush tax rates. Any move to increase the current tax rates amounts to a TAX INCREASE. The Bill passed in the Senate today was NOT A TAX CUT BILL. It would simply maintain CURRENT TAX RATES for those making 250K or less.
And for some reason known but to God, Harry Reid thinks that if you make $250,000 (many small businesses fall into this category) that you're magically a millionaire! (Liberals were never very good at math, were they?).
Not only that, they think that taking resources from those who have the ability to create jobs during this economy will somehow help the economy.
Moronic thinking such as this deserves no quarter. These clowns MUST GO.
Congressional RINO, U.S. representative Ahn "Joseph" Cao (LA), is either completely disingenuous, has been living under a rock for the past two years, or is just plain dense (emphases mine):
New Orleans Republican Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao is hedging his bets when it comes to who he’ll support for speaker.
The first-term Republican, who represents a solidly Democratic district, speaking told a local NBC affiliate he would “weigh those two names” — referring to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
“I have not heard of their platforms,” Cao said, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. “I have not read what they're looking for with respect to the country.."
It seems they can't help it. The democrats, being morally, ethically, and intellectually bankrupt, have seen their ratings swirl downward in the toilet of public opinion. As panicked as rats on the Titanic, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and their willing sycophants in the echo-chamber media, knowing that their policies are dismal failures, have done the only thing that any bunch of self-loathing, grossly incompetent and delusional boobs could do: Blame Bush.
In that spirit, I offer:
We Blame George Bush, That Liar!
(to the Tune of "We Didn't Start the Fire" By Billy Joel)
There's a buzz about the blogosphere and the twittersphere about a new, supposedly grass-roots organization called "The Tea Party is Over" whose mission is.."To prevent the Tea Party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction." They call the Tea Party Movement (which was more than likely responsible for the democrat loss of Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts)a 'fad' and their ideas, 'dangerous.'
This movement is a fad. Some of their ideas include the belief that programs like Social Security and Medicare are socialistic and should never have been created in the first place and that President Obama is a Socialist.
...And?
They also target key elected representatives who agree with those 'dangerous ideas'
David McAloon
McAloon has a history of supporting extreme anti-Obama, pro-life, pro-gun positions, while advocating lucrative tax breaks for the wealthy. He claims that the "abortion industry" is "after blood money" and is intent on "victimizing women." Call David at xxx-xxx-xxxx and tell him to reject the dangerous ideas of the Tea Party.
Yeah... gotta get those dangerous ideas, like saving the lives of children, and defending the rights of citizens to protect themselves out of the public discussion.
Arie Friedman
Friedman actually advocates eliminating Medicaid. And he publicly doubts the proven science of global warming, even despite national security warnings that climate change threatens America’s economy.
Yes, I know that the force behind this mind-numbed, bromide-filled site is just a grass roots movement called "The American Public Policy Committee." Just a group of well-meaning citizens, right?
Well, it turns out that only two groups donated to the APCC: Patriot Majority, and Patriot Majority West.
Patriot Majority, running ads against Dole, Wicker and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), just reported a $1.65 million haul from AFSCME, in addition to $1.5 million from the union earlier in the month, not to mention even more before October.
Yeah.. Some grass-roots movement you got there. When it comes to Astroturfing, the neo-socialists are the professionals. We conservatives are pikers.
But I guess I'm not surprised. The ideas coming out of the real grass-roots Tea Party movement are indeed a danger to the advancement of socialism and lining the pockets of union goons.
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama told banks Thursday they should pay a new tax to recoup the cost of bailing out foundering firms at the height of the financial crisis. "We want our money back," he said.
In a brief appearance with advisers at the White House, Obama branded the latest round of bank bonuses as "obscene." But he said his goal was to prevent such excesses in the future, not to punish banks for past behavior.
The tax, which would require congressional approval, would last at least 10 years and generate about $90 billion over the decade, according to administration estimates. "If these companies are in good enough shape to afford massive bonuses, they are surely in good enough shape to afford paying back every penny to taxpayers," Obama said.
Oh, Barry the Beneficent, thank you oh so very much for looking out for we, the taxpayers. Under your watch I know you have done everything you can to ensure a debt-free future for our children. You have been such a great steward of our hard-earned money that we have dutifully entrusted into your loving hands. .
Oh, Dear Leader, whatever would we do without you?
/SARC
Hey, Barry--by the way, while you're asking for "our" money back from those evil bankers a la your mentor Saul Alinsky (which you will no doubt pass along to unions and others to buy your re-election campaign), may we, the great unwashed, kindly ask for our freedom and our COUNTRY back?
The long-promised $1.055 TRILLION health care bill was introduced this morning. Nancy Pelosi and her fellow-travellers in Congress were SO PROUD of this leap to the left, that they blocked access to its unveiling to all but a few "invited guests."
The West side of the Capitol — the area where President Barack Obama was inaugurated — is traditionally open to the public. But the entrances were blocked off Thursday morning by metal fences, with Capitol police officers standing next to staff members holding clipboards with lists of approved attendees.
The money quote:
Democrats repeatedly touted the openness of the development of their health care bill, which House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called "the most deliberative, transparent and open process" he had seen in his career on Capitol Hill.
Given all the smarmy, self-righteous chest beating by the usual suspects on the left, somehow, I've yet to hear an apology on the House floor for Jack Murtha calling brave Marines in Haditha who were following ROE cold blooded killers.
I may have missed something, but I haven't heard a peep out of Harry Reid for loudly proclaiming that the Iraq war was lost in a preemptive attempt to sabotage the well-being of our troops in hopes that the Petraeus-led surge would fail.
I may have been out to lunch, but I must have missed the time on the House Floor when Nancy Pelosi issued her apology for labeling the CIA liars, or when she publicly labelled George Bush a total failure.
I may have missed the boat, but I still can't remember when John Kerry apologized on the Senate Floor for saying all our soldiers did was to terrorize women and children in the dead of night.
Perhaps I also missed the apology from Algore in his now infamous "HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!!!" rant.
I most certainly must have missed the apology issued by then-Senator Hillary Clinton after she as much as called General Petraeus a bald-faced liar, right to his face, during the Senate hearings that supposedly were conducted to assess the success of the surge.
But I don't think I've been living under a rock. I don't think I've been sleeping at all. Because an elitist democrat, no matter how despicable his or her words or actions, NEVER apologizes.
But this-- no, this was the unforgivable sacrilege of Joe Wilson, a Republican slandering not only a democrat, but "The One" himself, by actually-gasp-telling the truth!
Having no leg to stand on to challenge the simple two-word assertion by Wilson (You lied!), just like they had no substantive argument against Joe the Plumber, or against Sarah Palin, the leftwing fever swamp, including their toadies in the media, have now swarmed like a bunch of brain-dead zombies in an all out concerted effort to attack the character of Joe Wilson. Even by going so far as to say--now get this--that he's a--double gasp-- caffiene addict (hey--desperate times call for desperate measures)!
Projection, the tendency to project one's own failings and character flaws onto others, has always been a hallmark of the left.
Their latest senseless tirade against Congressman Joe Wilson is nothing less than symptomatic of their own pathologies.
A good friend of mine pointed me to a must-read article (READ THE WHOLE THING) by James Simpson that was actually written two months before the Presidential election, in September of 2008. In it, Simpson writes about the Cloward-Piven strategy, that is, a strategy formulated by two radical university lefitsts during the 1960s; a strategy utilizing contrived and orchestrated chaos to achieve political ends.
Immediately upon reading the piece, the following passage stood out:
Cloward and Piven were inspired by radical organizer [and Hillary Clinton mentor] Saul Alinsky:
"Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one. (Courtesy Discover the Networks.org)
I might add, Alinsky is an ideological mentor to Barack & Michelle Obama.
I also might add that our own book of rules is a list of ideals for which to strive, which, as is the case with the Commandments, we all fall short, though we continue to strive for those ideals.
The Socialist book of rules is a dumbing down, a nihilist concept that since we all fall short of moral purity and perfection, why even strive for it? The definition of moral purity is then defined down to living according to the Machiavellian tenets that any means, including the economic and moral destruction of one's own nation, are justified if they will serve to create their inarguably unattainable earthly socialist utopia. With the leftist rule book, and with tactics such as moral relativism the left can change the rules as they go along; consequently, in their minds, they ALWAYS live up to their rules..because essentially there are none.
It's time that socialists are held not to to their own book of rules (since in effect, they have none), but to the results they promise as they tout their policies. The socialist policies of Barack Obama and the dems have netted not a utopia, but the exact opposite world in which moral degradation and chaos rule the day. They decapitated the black families in the great society, initiated unending cycles of poverty, placed moral standards at their lowest common denominator til in their 'moral equavalence' game neither a standard of morality nor the will to strive to live by morals exist, period.
They have left and continue to leave societal, moral and social destruction in their wake.
They have promised a better life for all who subscribe to their philosophy, yet, through the redistribution of wealth and through moral equivalence, multiculturalism, not to mention their zeal to throw God out of the picture at every turn, they have and continue to create pandemonium.
Where is their neo-socialist/neo-communist paradise on earth?
Despite the left's rising tide this past decade and a half, I've yet to see any sign of it. Despite the "great society," despite the transfer of untold trillions of dollars in wealth, I haven't seen a smidgen of benefit to the individual, nor the society at large.
For years now we've been told that we need to de-populate mother earth, either through the use of contraception, or via its insidious stepchild, abortion. As the Abortion Ticker shows on the sidebar of this blog, over 12,000,000 would-be American citizens never got a chance to take a breath because of abortion--and that's only been since the year 2000.
While in the dominant leftist culture, where death and/or the absence of more life is more or less glorified as the cleansing required to re-make the world and to downsize humanity's carbon footprint and affront against the earth's natural resources, another "death cult" has been making other plans.
While the video doesn't really make a direct link between the twin practices of contraception and abortion (with the latter often being utilized as the former) and the downslide of re-population in European and North American countries, there can be no denying that their impact has been nothing less than marked.
Like the global warming hoax, the nattering about the supposed ticking population bomb was ill-thought out from the start, and like the global warming hoax, we, our children, and their children's children will continue to pay the price. And pay it dearly.
Hope you enjoy your brave new world, liberals.
You created it. And now we all have to live in it.
"Our country kills children all over the world. Whether it's the fault of terrorists or not, is this how we want to remembered when our country is nuked. Do we want to be remembered as child killers?"
To which I responded:
This is one of the favorite devices of the rabid left: Take their wrongs, and divert attention from them by projecting them onto others.
The leftist ideology in guises of communism, socialism, et al. has served to literally murder millions of people, including millions of children. From Castro, to Pol Pot, to Stalin, to Lenin, to Mao, to [insert your favorite despot here]; and not only do leftists make excuses for these murdering despots, they want to emulate them and their tactics. To destroy in order to remake has been the hallmark of leftists, since Komrade Karl Marx wrote in his Manifesto, (to parpahrase) "Everything that exists deserves to be destroyed."
This culture of leftist nihilism has even invaded our shores, in the form of the thousands of innocents murdered on a daily basis on the altar of abortion.
So, yes, in that vein, America does have a population of baby killers.
What happens when liberalism mixes with religion is nothing less than Frankensteinian; a grotesque, satanic abomination that masquerades as good intentions and good works:
Caritas Christi, the health-care agency administered by the Archdiocese of Boston, has joined in a successful bid for a government contract to provide health services for low-income clients. The program requires coverage for abortion, sterilization, and contraception.
State officials on March 13 awarded the contract for low-income coverage to Commonwealth Family Health Plan, a joint venture set up by Caritas Christi and the Centene Corporation, a Missouri-based company which currently has no facilities in Massachusetts. The Commonwealth Family Health Plan program will be centered around the Catholic hospitals of the Caritas Christi network.
The involvement of the archdiocesan health-care system in a program that provides abortions drew protests from Boston Catholic activists. The Catholic Action League called the contract “a significant defeat for the pro-life movement, inflicted not by secular society, but by the Catholic Church in Boston.”
Oh, of course, the liberal neo-marxists who have infiltrated the middle levels of the Church heirarchy will always have an "ends justify the means" explanation at the ready:
Last week, in a response to such criticism, Cardinal Sean O'Malley asserted: “Caritas Christi will never do anything to promote abortions, to direct any patients to providers of abortion or in any way to participate in actions that are contrary to Catholic moral teaching and anyone who suggests otherwise is doing a great disservice to the Catholic Church.”
Which, of course, is nothing more than a bald-faced lie that could have come from Lucifer himself:
However, the cardinal's claim was contradicted by representatives of Commonwealth Care, who assured state officials that their program would provide "ready access" to all of the services mandated by the government program, including abortion.
Under the Commonwealth Family Health Plan system, abortions will not be performed at the Caritas Christi hospitals. But women who wish to procure abortions will be given a telephone number to call for information on where abortions are performed, and, if necessary, transportation to those sites.
Cardinal Sean O'Malley, with all due respect, you're full of shit. I have nothing but disdain for you and the rest of your neo-marxist komrades in Roman collars who have turned your back against GOD and His flock and toward your new god called "government" to create your sick sense of utopia here on Earth. For that reason, you saw it fit to vote for and to advance the agenda of the biggest pro-abortion senator, ever; again, to advance your twisted vision of "social justice," which, to the detriment of our civilization, has no application to the most innocent and helpless among us, the unborn. And you continue the work of Satan to this day, with your abject rejection of the sanctity of life in your unholy march toward your advancement of his agenda of death.
Cardinal Sean O'Malley, you had better be thankful that it is not I who will be dispensing ultimate justice; for if it was, you surely would spend eternity rotting in hell. It is because of traitors of the cloth such as yourself that I and many other formerly devout Catholics have left the fold.
Many shepherds will ruin my vineyard and trample down my field; they will turn my pleasant field into a desolate wasteland. It will be made a wasteland, parched and desolate before me; the whole land will be laid waste because there is no one who cares (Jeremiah 12:10).
"Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!" declares Yahweh. Therefore this is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: "Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done," declares Yahweh. "I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number (Jeremiah 23:1-3).
The democrat-controlled U.S. House has just killed an investigation into lobbyist-lawmaker ties.
The House voted Wednesday to kill a resolution calling for an ethics investigation into potential quid pro quo between lobbyist campaign donations and lawmakers.
Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., sponsored the proposal that would have forced the House Ethics Committee to launch a probe into ties between the source and timing of campaign contributions by lobbyists and subsequent legislator requests for special projects or earmarks.
While open-ended, Flake's resolution was a direct response to the ongoing federal investigation into the PMA Group, a lobbying company accused of making fraudulent donations to lawmakers using names of people who did not exist.
The firm, which has contributed millions to politicians in the last decade, has close ties to senior Democratic appropriators including Reps. John Murtha D-Pa., and Pete Visclosky,D-Ind. The FBI raided PMA's headquarters in November and is investigating the group's founder and president, Paul Magliochetti, a former Murtha aide.
"Whereas numerous press reports and editorials have alleged several cases of influence peddling between members of Congress and outside interests seeking federal funding the House of Representatives should respond to such claims and demonstrate integrity in its proceedings," the resolution read.
The House decided to set aside the proposal by a mostly party-line 226-182 vote, though 17 Democrats joined Republicans in support of considering the measure.
Sneed hears rumbles President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is reportedly on 21 different taped conversations by the feds -- dealing with his boss' vacant Senate seat!
I guess it all depends on what the meaning of "contact" is.
LONDON (AP) — Doctors have given a woman a new windpipe with tissue grown from her own stem cells, eliminating the need for anti-rejection drugs.
And eliminating the need to kill embryos, as well. For years now, the pro-death crowd's mantra is that we need embryonic stem cell research to cure diseases. The Democratic Party Platform, to this day, reads:
Pursue embryonic stem cell research
Pres. Bush has rejected the calls from Nancy Reagan, Christopher Reeve & Americans across the land for assistance with embryonic stem cell research. We will reverse his wrongheaded policy. Stem cell therapy offers hope to more than 100 million Americans who have serious illnesses-from Alzheimer's to heart disease to juvenile diabetes to Parkinson's. We will pursue this research under the strictest ethical guidelines, but we will not walk away from the chance to save lives and reduce human suffering.
Interestingly, that little tidbit is located the part of the DNC platform that deals with abortion.
In other words, the whole embryonic stem cell debate is a move by the pro-infanticide faction of the democrat party to keep the abortionist's foot in society's door.
The dirty little secret, the gorilla on the dining room table of which no one dares speak, is that embryonic stem cell research has shown absolutely no promise toward curing disease, as embryonic stem cells have been proven time and time again to be unstable in nature, at times even causing cancer-like symptoms in subjects.
If the pro-baby killing crowd is to find justification for their ghoulish predelictions, they'll have to look elsewhere. Embryonic stem cell research ain't gonna cut it.
