The Winds of War seem to have a stench...

Dear Mark...

As you may know, I am a huge supporter of our efforts in Iraq. My son is in the Minnesota National Guard, who, as you know, is the only free-standing guard unit to be deployed to Iraq; therefore, making them the most elite among the Guard to be serving in theatre. My son is in Mississippi right now, and will be deployed to Iraq in February, after a few weeks of further training in California.

I have also always been a big supporter of yours, and have marched with you on your election bid to congress in area parades.

This post on a good friend's blog threw me for a loop. Have you any knowledge regarding our under-armored Humvees, especially those that are provided to Guard units? If this is indeed the case, it is a travesty to be sending our fighting men and women into harms way without proper armored equipment!

During WWII, after our Navy was decimated at Pearl Harbor, in no time at all (the space of a couple of years) we re-built our Navy--huge ships that became the envy of the world. Don't tell me that we can't quickly convert some plants to build adequately armored vehicles that will provide an adequate measure of safety for our boys who so bravely volunteer for the cause of freedom. Don't tell me that the U.S. is incapable of building a vehicle that will guard its occupants against the effects of home-made IEDs!

Congressman Kennedy--this travesty can not long continue. I call on you to immediately introduce a measure that will correct this injustice, and will quickly get the ball rolling on this matter. This is not a time for bureaucratic stalling. This is a time of WAR.

Sincerely,

Leo Pusateri

P.S. I urge all readers of this blog to contact their congressman regarding this matter.
