An event worth attending..6th Congressional District Forum

Andy at Residual Forces is putting together a debate forum for all 6th Congressional District candidates:
The Forum is on November 12th at the Mermaid in Mounds View. 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Guests could include Governor Pawlenty, Congressman Kennedy, (others are welcome)
All 4 Republican Candidates (Sen. Bachmann, Mr. Esmay, Rep. Knoblach, & Rep. Krinkie) have confirmed to be there.

There will be a one hour social hour from 11 to noon that will include so type of food. I am trying to get a group to sponsor the food portion, but so far it is not going well. (Any one interested???) The social hour is intended to give people a chance to get up close and personal with the candidates (not that close Eva) and other elected officials. We welcome other candidates to come, but the focus is on the 6th District. Governor Pawlenty and Congressman Kennedy have been invited. There may be a small cover charge for the social hour if I cannot get a group to sponsor it, my BPOU cannot afford to cover that cost alone.

At noon, we may have a couple of short speeches from Governor Pawlenty, Congressman Kennedy, and MNGOP Deputy Chair Eric Hoplin. I will give a short presentation as well, and then introduce our yet to be finalized moderator and give a quick synopsis of the forum rules. We’ll introdue the Republican candidates and get right to it. The actual forum should start shortly after noon. The purpose of this event is the forum, not for guests to come and speak.

I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty details, but I can asure you it will be worth attending. I was quite surprised that the 6th Congressional District Republican leadership was not willing to help or chose not to. Some of the people that I talked to expressed a strong desire to be a part of it, but nothing ever happened. So this event so far is being fully planned and funded by the SD51 Republicans. (You can donate online. nod nod, wink wink.)

Here is how the blogosphere can help:

  • The Mermaid is WiFi capable, if you are interested in attending and live blogging the event, let ME know.
  • Questions, Questions, Questions. Submit them to me. { andy ‘at’ residualforces.com }
  • Spread the word. My BPOU cannot afford to take out ads and do large canvas mailings to get people there. So any free pub from you all would be greatly appreciated.
I will certainly be attending, and will also bring my laptop. A big thank you to Andy for shouldering such a daunting task.
