Patty Wetterling is full of it.

I was just watching Fox9 News from Minneapolis, and there was a Patty Wetterling campaign ad. In the ad, Wetterling claims that Michelle Bachmann is for a 23 percent sales tax.

This is true. But the rest of the ad goes downhill from there.

What the Wetterling Campaign fails to state that in return Michelle Bachmann wants to get rid of a 35 percent income tax!!!

But of course, Wetterling goes on to say that everything we buy will be 23 percent more, from food, to clothes, to gasoline.

But anyone who has even half-way studied the "Fair Tax Amendment" knows that this is complete bullshit.

The Fair Tax Amendment will only charge a sales tax on new merchandise at the retail level.

This will mean no sales tax at the production level, drastically reducing the cost of production, and in turn allowing the market to be more competitive to decrease the cost of goods.

In fact, with the Fair Tax Amendment, one would barely notice an increase in consumer prices at all. But they will notice an increase in their paycheck.

It seems rather curious to me that Patty Wetterling would leave out important details like that.

But I guess desperate times call for desperate measures, right Patty?

****UPDATE**** 8:20p CDT, 10.7.2006

I attended the Sixth Congressional Candidate forum today (Oct 7) in St. Cloud, and it is still quite evident that Patty Wetterling still doesn't have a clue as to what the Fair Tax is, reiterating her nonsense that Michelle Bachmann wants to raise taxes by 23 percent...

Incidentally, Wetterling called the Fair Tax proposal the "Flat..errr flat tax thing.." further proof that she criticizes that which she knows nothing about.

Way to be informed on the issues, Patty.

NOT.

I did take extensive notes, and I'll have a comprehensive report on the forum tomorrow evening.
