And now, 2008....

A joyous, and prosperous New Year to one and all!

My father continues to slowly improve. In fact, he had a permanent port inserted today for his dialysis; he is stable to the point where he may be discharged from the hospital either Wednesday or Thursday; the challenge will be to get him the transportation and other services he'll need to continue with his dialysis treatments on a three-times per week basis. As it sits right now, the dialysis process pretty much wipes out his energy. He may need to go into a nursing home at first so as to be able to hopefully build enough strength whereby he can again live a semi-independent lifestyle.

I had a lot of fun this evening-- a good friend of mine (we've known each other since kindergarten) is a Warrenville cop, and I did a ride-along with him for a few hours this evening. It was a neat diversion from the stress of the past week.
