Others are taking Murtha's lead...

It’s impossible to deny that the world became a little safer today, but that won’t stop some dems from trying. They sought to minimize the news of the destruction Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of Al-Quada in Iraq, steering the discussion away from the issue of terrorism so they could play politics.

The Washington Times has the story here: http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20060608-041042-9038r.htm

“Some Democrats, breaking ranks from their leadership, today said the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi in Iraq was a stunt to divert attention from an unpopular and hopeless war. ‘This is just to cover Bush's [rear] so he doesn't have to answer’ for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers, said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. ‘Iraq is still a mess -- get out.’ Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat, said Zarqawi was a small part of ‘a growing anti-American insurgency’ and that it's time to get out. ‘We're there for all the wrong reasons,’ Mr. Kucinich said.

The nixing of Zarqawi was a watershed moment for Iraqis, Americans, and the rest of the world; and to minimize it by playing politics completely ignores the greater mission of defeating terrorists. In the war on terrorism, we really should all be on the same side.

Too bad democrats such as Murtha and his minions are too blinded by political opportunism to be of like mind.
