Howard Dean: 'This is a Republican Scandal'
By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor

January 09, 2006 (CNSNews.com) - Republican claims to the contrary, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean says no Democrat lawmakers took money from lobbyist Jack Abramoff -- "not one, not one single Democrat."

Dean, speaking Sunday on CNN's Late Edition, said every person named in the Abramoff payola scandal -- and every person under investigation and/or indicted -- is a Republican. "This is a Republican finance scandal. There is no evidence that Jack Abramoff ever gave any Democrat any money and we've looked through all of the F.E.C. reports to make sure that's true," Dean said.

He said Republicans are scared - and should be: "They haven't told the truth. They have misled the American people, and now it appears they're stealing from Indian tribes. The Democrats are not involved in this," Dean insisted.

According to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, "Forty of 45 members of the Democrat Senate Caucus took money from Jack Abramoff, his associates, and Indian tribe clients."
This, of course, comes after:
Reid spokesperson, Tessa Hafen, said that Reid has no intention of giving any of the Abramoff money back.
Now why would Reid's spokesman go through the trouble to say that Reid has no intention of giving any money back that, according to Dean, he never received in the first place? But again, I guess you need to consider the source, and it all makes sense.

In a really weird and twisted way, that is.
