Now this makes sense?

How do you provide jobs for people on welfare in Tennessee? Just outsource your welfare office jobs to India:
India Outsourcing Firm Gets $34M U.S. Deal

BANGALORE, India — Indian outsourcing company Scandent Solutions Corp. Ltd. said Friday it got a US$34 million (euro28.2 million) contract from the state government of the U.S. state of Tennessee to provide online services for welfare programs.

The order from the state's human service department involves providing online access to programs such as Food Stamps, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Scandent said in a statement to Bombay Stock Exchange, where its shares are traded. The contract also involves buttressing the department's back-office functions.

Contracts over US$10 million are usually considered large by Indian outsourcing firms.

Tennessee's outsourcing order "is evidence of a forward thinking organization committed to providing superior services to its citizens," said Rob Marchant, president of Scandent's Albion business division that will carry out the tasks.

Okayyy...

Am I the only one who thinks that this is a bit out of whack??

Here's a novel idea:

How about using that $34 million to get people off of welfare?? Or, does it serve some sick, twisted purpose to keep them in an ongoing state of dependency?

Keeping your constituency dumbed-down and dependent?

Much akin to keeping your woman barefoot and pregnant, I guess...
