Hold onto your wallets!... the DFL is coming after them.

From The Pioneer Press:

Senate DFL floats idea of tax add-on

Proceeds would go to conservation, arts

Democrats in the Minnesota Senate on Monday announced plans for a constitutional amendment that would increase the sales tax by one-fourth of 1 percent and dedicate the proceeds to conservation projects, as well as to zoos, arts programs and public broadcasting.

Public broadcasting???? I have yet to understand why my tax dollars are going to fund a propaganda arm of the liberal democrat party, or even to fund a welfare program for starving artists. If you want to privately fund these ventures, knock yourself out. But why ask the average joe taxpayer, who's having a hard enough time as it is making ends meet in feeding, clothing, and housing his own family, to feed and clothe these weasels as well? If MPR is such a great idea, why not let the market take care of it?

The "willing to pay for a better Minnesota" crowd continues to call conservatives mean spirited and heartless for not wanting to fork over the do-re-mi or to collectively "sacrifice" so as to make their vision of utopia a reality.

If they want their little socialist utopia, fine. If they want public broadcasting and to fund the arts--by all means, knock yourself out. If you're willing to pay for, what in your twisted moonbat mind will be a "better Minnesota", go ahead. But do it on your dime.

Don't confiscate mine. Make your own damn sacrifices.
