Democrats--a trial lawyer's best friend...

The party that espouses affordable health care wants nothing to do with addressing one of the main factors that make it anything but:
WASHINGTON — The Senate is opening its week of health care legislation with consideration — and likely defeat — of two bills that would cap the damages juries can award in medical malpractice cases.

Democrats served notice last week that they have enough votes to block the bills from coming to a vote. Republicans also plan to bring up a third measure that would make it easier for small businesses to purchase health insurance.

Now why won't democrats call for a halt to out-of-control legal settlements that drive up the cost of healthcare for those who can afford it least? Could it be because they don't want to diss one of their main blocs of contributors?

Naaaaahhhhh...
Trial lawyer money is now a major part of the Democratic Party, but it is wholly dependent on legislators and courts maintaining the present tort laws that allow lawyers to interject themselves into any and all contracts and relationships.
They wouldn't want to kill their little goslings that lay their golden eggs, now, would they? Even if they have to saddle those increased costs on the backs of those least able to pay the ever-increasing medical costs and insurance rates to keep that gander alive.
