Robert Hornbeck to be laid to rest tomorrow...

From here:
Army Spc. Robert Hornbeck, 23, was found dead Friday in a Savannah, Ga., hotel.

Hornbeck had been missing for 12 days before his body was found inside a large piece of air conditioning equipment.

The 2001 graduate of Lapeer East High School served two years in Iraq and earned a combat infantryman badge, according to obituary information.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Bible Church, 923 S. Main St., Lapeer.

Hornbeck leaves his mother and stepfather, Tami and Bob Erickson of Lapeer Township; his father and stepmother, Eric and Beth Hornbeck of Dryden; fiancee, Amanda Swartz of Saline; sister, Marianne Hornbeck of Lapeer Township; and his grandfather, Robert Hornbeck of Savannah, Ga.

An honorable and brave one-year tour of duty in harms way, only to be done in by an air conditioning duct back home.  A definite shame, to be sure.  In my conversations with those who have been in combat situations, it appears that for those who return from the perils of war, there is a kind of "culture shock"; feeling the concussion impact of bombs one day, then home and at your local Kroger's the next day.  I truly believe there needs to be some kind of mechanism for follow up to allow a more gradual acculturation back into society.

Please take a pause tomorrow at 11am Eastern to remember and pray for the brave Robert Hornbeck, his family and friends, and his fiancee.
