What the heck, Normie!!!...

Time to don the "Jimmy Carter Sweaters." Norm Coleman is Waaaaaaaaayyyyy out there when it comes to his energy policies:

...The United States needs to adopt a resolve for energy independence akin to the "man-on-the-moon vision" of President John F. Kennedy, U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman said Monday, as he endorsed Sen. Jeff Bingaman's Enhanced Energy Efficiency Act of 2006.

The New Mexico Democrat's bill sets a goal of saving 2.5 million barrels of oil daily by 2016, which is about the amount imported from the Persian Gulf region.

Among the key features: promotion of new vehicle technologies such as "plug-in hybrids," lighter materials for vehicles, grants to permanently retire fuel-inefficient cars (vee haff vays!), federal loan guarantees to auto manufacturers to convert to fuel-efficient vehicles and a national media indoctrination campaign to decrease fuel consumption

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for cheap, abundant forms of alternative energy. But that's in the FUTURE. What about $3.00+ per gallon gas now?

But I believe ol' Normie has come up with the ultimate RINO solution:
...Coleman, chairman of a Senate Permanent Investigations panel, said he will continue looking into allegations of profiteering by oil companies and charges that the companies are not using enough of their soaring profits for more exploration and development.
...Can you believe this? Why should the oil companies pay for "more exploration and development" when any and all attempts to do so are thwarted at every turn, and when when our own Senator Coleman states:
..."When I ran for the Senate, I pledged to oppose drilling in ANWR. Today I kept that commitment. I was proud to vote again this year to strip ANWR drilling out of the budget because it is a distraction from where our focus should be. We need to do more to reduce America’s increasing dependence on foreign sources of oil and reduce energy costs. But whether we can do that by drilling in ANWR is uncertain. What we do know – especially in Minnesota -- is that we can achieve this goal by expanding the use of renewable fuels like ethanol, biodiesel, and wind energy."
But on the other side of your mouth you want to look at why the oil companies are supposedly not using their profits toward exploration and development???

Errr... come again, Normie?
