But they know better than you....

From here:
A Senate committee rejected a proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and civil unions Tuesday, but the debate that has divided families, churches and communities isn't over.
...No... they didn't reject a poroposed Constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and civil unions. This "committee" (five DFLers on the committee, to be specific) rejected your right to exercise your voice on the issue. They, in their arrogance, felt entitled to deny their constituency a direct voice on an issue that could profoundly impact the society in which they live. Because, dear readers, they know better than you do.

And Dean Johnson, otherwise known as Mr. "After-speaking-to-them-personally-I-can-assure-you-the- Judges-are-not-going-to-review-it;" in an incredible "duck and dodge" moment:
Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson, DFL-Willmar, who had been criticized by supporters of the amendment who thought he was trying to prevent a vote on the issue, said he felt comfortable after the vote.

"I can look anyone in Minnesota in the eye and tell them I did not tell one person how to vote on this," he said.

But can you look anyone in Minnesota in they eye and tell them why the five DFLers on the Senate Committee saw it fit to prohibit the electorate from having a direct voice on the issue, Mr. Johnson?

Like I stated yesterday, the dems were all rarin' and ready to go to let the voters decide on whether to raise a state sales tax that would, among other things, fund public radio. But the democrats have made it abundantly clear that they don't trust the electorate enough to make the right choice for themselves regarding an issue of incredible societal impact.

Whether you're personally for or against this amendment should have no bearing. The point is your elected DFL senators think that you are dimmwitted dullard hayseeds who cannot be trusted to make a choice that will impact the society in which you live.

It is my fervent hope that such memories will run long, long into November.
