Escaped sex offender may be driving a stolen car

Authorities say a man who escaped from a sex offender program in St. Peter may be driving a stolen 1997 Ford Crown Victoria.

Forty-two-year-old Michael Dale Benson escaped last night along with three others who were later captured. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Benson may be driving the vehicle, which is a green four-door with license plate number M-X-B-8-0-1.

Officials say Benson has a history of serious sex offenses and should be considered dangerous. They described him as American Indian/Caucasian -- 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds with dark hair and
brown eyes.
