Is Hollywood really this devoid of ideas?

The saying, "There is nothing really new under the sun" applies in no better place than in the shallow minds of today's Hollywood moviemakers...

From here
LOS ANGELES — Jennifer Lopez has reportedly been offered the role of Sue Ellen in the "Dallas" movie.

Variety says Lopez hasn't signed a deal yet, but it's likely.

John Travolta has been offered the starring role of J.R., Luke Wilson is in talks to play Bobby and Shirley MacLaine could play Miss Ellie.

Shooting on the film couldn't start until Travolta makes his next movie, the big screen version of the Broadway musical "Hairspray."

And not to be outdone in that streak of stupidity:
Ice Cube to Star in 'Welcome Back Kotter' Movie

LOS ANGELES — "Welcome Back Kotter" is being made into a movie, with Ice Cube taking over for Gabe Kaplan in the starring role.

Cube tells "Variety" that he's a big fan of the original show.

Kaplan shares the rights to the series and he's been resisting a movie version for years. But he says he likes the way this project is shaping up.

These, along with such recent classics as the remakes of "Starsky and Hutch", "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Bewitched" are all proof positive that Hollywood is seriously in need of some original ideas. What's next, a Hollywood production of Sesame Street?

There are some kindergarteners that I work with that may be able to help them in that regard. Dementee can star as a fill-in for Cookie Monster.
